A question about the UCD cops in the pepper-spray video: what's with the paintball guns??

I noticed that all the officers except the estimable Lt. Pike were "armed" with paintball guns. Does anybody know the reason they'd use something like that? :wtf:

1. I think they're rubber bullet guns

Paintball guns would be awesome, especially if the people could fire back at the cops. :D

5. Not paintball guns...'less then lethal' guns either with pepper bullets

or rubber bullets. That way they can still shoot innocent people and get away with it, because you know they are not killing anyone - just using 'less then lethal' bullets. :eyes:

6. It looks like the guns are the same but the projectiles are different.

It's the other end of the spectrum from using a shotgun with a "less-than-lethal" round.

Plus I guess it makes campus cops feel real badass to be kitted up like rent-a-soldiers.
