Gloria Borger: Why America is growing tired of Palin
http://www.cnn.com/2011/OPINION/01/20/borger.palin.fatigue/index.html?hpt=T2

OK, you've got Palin fatigue. Not to worry. So does much of the country: The latest CNN poll shows that 56 percent of Americans view her unfavorably.

More damaging, though, is this: Sarah Palin's unfavorable rating among women has gone up 10 points. And 59 percent of those all-important independent voters don't like her -- and that's up a stunning 14 points in just a few months.

You might argue it's because of the debate surrounding the Tucson shootings -- specifically, Palin's tone-deaf response to the unfair charges that she was somehow responsible for a deranged shooter's state of mind. And that could well be part of it. But there's more: She's completely overstayed her welcome.

We've watched her morph from the hockey mom into a multi-media extravaganza that knocks on our door every day to sell something, without any invitation.

-------(more)

I'm seeing a media meme develop (here and elsewhere): People tend to vote for Presidential candidates who are positive. Palin is relentlessly negative.

1. What took them so long?
I've been sick of Palin since the day McCain chose her as his V.P. running mate.

2. I personally refuse to use the metaphoric construction
"sick of," simply because I don't want to give my mind/body system any unintentional suggestions.

However, I will go along with saying that I have found her to be despicable since I first heard anything significant about her.

4. Now, I can stop shaking my head in disbelief. Long time coming, but
I'm glad to see people are coming to their senses.

Gee, it seems like SO long ago when first we met her.

6. "Sarah Palin's unfavorable rating among women has gone up 10 points."
I don't know ANY women that like her. Ever see the movie "Heathers?" She's a Heather. A Mean Girl.

9. Ah, then you mustn't have conservative female...
family members. My sisters-in-law love her. They constantly fawn about how smart Sarah is and how she should run for Senate or something. I say, well jeez, I'm a hell of a lot smarter than her, so I guess I could run too. One sister-in-law said she wouldn't vote for me.
D'oh! Idiots, the lot of 'em.

10. My mother is a good example as to why Palin is unelectable
I mean my mom is pretty common sense non-political who does vote every election. She's a republican but an old-school style - she liked Arlen Specter and she will cross party lines to vote for Tim Holden. Beyond that she doesn't know squat about politics.

To my mom and even a few other female relatives, they they Sarah Palin is interesting and amusing, but they don't see her as a leader. They lump her with Kate Gosselin as a TV entertainer and seriously who would elect Kate Gosselin to an office?

I think someone somewhere once related Sarah Palin to Snooki - and honestly, I do see it.

Finally, I remember a line in the movie "Inception" that rings true to what the OP said. When talking about planting an idea in someone's head they said that planting a positive message would stick better then a negative one. And I see that is even true with politics. Obama ran a very successful campaign because his message always stayed positive even when he talked about hard times he would find a way to bring back the message 'Change is coming'. Palin has no idea how to send a positive message. She, like other republicans, find ways to scare people and sure it brings short time success here and there - in the long run the positive will always beat the negative.

13. The media breathlessly reports her every tweet and Facebook posting
Palin isn't knocking on our doors unescorted....the media is leading her up to our doors and ringing the doorbell for her.

15. Because Sarah NEVER SHUTS UP, that's why.
And coincidentally (or not), she always seems to be talking out of the wrong end. And she's possibly the most narcissistic person on the planet. Nobody likes a braggart, especially when it's all a lie anyway.
