Inconsistencies found in protestor 'miscarriage'
I've been searching for more info on this story and just found this. I'll keep looking over the next week and post what I find.

IF she miscarried, I am very sorry for her.

IF she lied, I am also very sorry for her.

http://mynorthwest.com/11/582322/Inconsistencies-found-in-protestor-miscarriage
A woman who told police she was three months pregnant after she was pepper sprayed at an Occupy Seattle march this month, told police she was three months pregnant in September when facing arrest.
(clip)
KIRO Radio first obtained the police report from Sept. 22, 2011. Seattle police had responded to a vacant building located in 1250 Denny Way where a security officer reported five squatters. One of those people, according to police sources, was 19-year-old Jennifer Fox.
(clip)
According to the report, Fox told an officer she was three months pregnant and began crying when arrested. "(Fox) began holding her stomach and was screaming when she was arrested," read the report. (Fox) was treated at the scene and transported to HMC."
(clip)
Fox's former foster mother, Lark Stebbins, told the Seattle Times Fox is a "compulsive liar" and a "wannabe drama queen."

miscarried. Both are bad. Poor young woman.

5. Did you read the message or just the subject line?
"A woman who told police she was three months pregnant after she was pepper sprayed at an Occupy Seattle march this month, told police she was three months pregnant in September when facing arrest."

She said she was 3 months pregnant in Sept. 2 months ago. She said she was 3 months pregnant last week.

8. If some people were offended by pepper spray blasted point blank into their eyes, by choke holds
or weighted batons to the ribs or groin area, or by exploding tear gas canisters or bean bag rounds being aimed at their faces, I am very sorry that they choose to be offended by these things.

13. Rather like false claims of rape hurt many of us by making true claims be not taken
seriously.

I have seen no one who is not offended by choke holds, kicks, pepper spray, etc.

10. I can't define why, but mental alarms sounded when I first read this story.
Not blaring sirens, mind you, but I did entertain the fleeting thoughts of a backward B. Again, I can't define the why of it.

Having said that, how likely is it that the woman could be three months pregnant in November after having been three months pregnant in September?

14. I considered that possibility and decided it didn't matter.
She did not deserve to be pepper sprayed even if she's a liar.

And I'm glad the poor thing is apparently out of the hands of her former foster mother -- who may very well have her own guilty reasons for calling the girl a drama queen.

15. Doesn't it matter?
The woman claimed that she was hit in the stomach by two cops. Her entire account has to be called into question. Was she even pepper sprayed? How are we to know?

I think it does matter.

Edited on Tue Nov-22-11 10:07 PM by uppityperson
But if she lied about being pregnant, this is also very wrong. Did the cop who pepper sprayed her deserve to be called a murderer by so many people? He deserves to be raked over the coals for pepper spraying people.

I wasn't aware that there was a smear campaign against the Kent State victims. Tell more, please. But there is no doubt as to the deadly extent of the excessive force leveled against them. No doubt at all.

20. Even the link in other post says "increasingly dubiousl"
http://slog.thestranger.com/slog/archives/2011/11/21/pregant-woman-blasted-with-pepper-spray-by-spd-reportedly-miscarries
While sources in general should be given the benefit of the doubt—even if they are homeless women—and there is no evidence that Fox isn't being entirety forthright, her story looks increasingly dubious.

It's worth pointing out that in the Seattlepi.com article last week, the reporter noted that Fox was two months pregnant, when she told me that she was three months pregnant at the time.

UPDATE on Nov. 22 at 4:18 PM: Acting on an anonymous tip, we heard that Seattle police found Fox in a house six nearly nine weeks ago. According to a police report in which the names have been redacted, a suspect who appears to have a three-letter last name "said she is three months pregnant... and began crying when was arrested. began holding her stomach and screaming that it hurt." The woman was transferred to Harborview Medical Center. We are attempting to contact Fox to ask if she is the woman in the police report.

21. I read the book "Kent State - 13 Seconds"
And it outlined in great detail the smear campaign against the victims.Victims families received letters saying that the nurses in the hospital said they were wearing filthy underwear and clothing, attending orgies, etc. Using drugs, you name it, combined with a letter writing campaign to local newspapers from wingnuts claiming to have "inside information" on the sex lives/subversive activities of the students. (At least one of whom was not even involved in the protest, but was walking outside changing classes.) But the highest level of hatred seemed to be reserved for another "homeless" woman- the 14 year old runaway you see kneeling over the body of aa student in the famous photograph, her hands in the air in anguish. The wingnuts "somehow" found her home address and flooded her mailbox with hate mail and death threats. And moving later didn't help, they seemed to follow her. That's what I remembered when I saw the pig people going. After this girl. Check out "13 Seconds", it's a good read and reminder of what could happen again.

26. Seattle Times article...Occupy protester's miscarriage claim questioned
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2016829484_occupybaby23m.html
A Seattle teenager's claim that abuse by Seattle police caused her miscarriage has become a viral Internet sensation of the Occupy Wall Street movement, but no evidence has emerged to support her allegation.
(clip)

She said she learned the sex of her fetus about 10 weeks into her pregnancy via an ultrasound test, although gender is typically not detected via ultrasound until the 16th week of pregnancy. She said the baby's father is in jail.

In September, Fox told police she was three months pregnant when officers confronted her and five others on a criminal trespass complaint at a Seattle City Light facility, according to a police report obtained by KIRO FM. The report described Fox as crying and clutching her stomach at the scene before being transported to Harborview.

(clip)

In an interview with The Seattle Times, Fox said Harborview medical staff, whom she could not name, described the fetus as healthy during treatment after the Tuesday protest.

29. Like Kent State
When you see media or others trying to subtly shift blame to the victims, that's when your b.s. alarm should start ringing off the hook. 19 year old homeless girl - what a nice, easy target for them.

30. Like this case...?

I don't see any "subtly shift blame to the victims" but instead having questions about the veracity of the claims. She didn't deserve to be pepper sprayed, but she doesn't deserve to lie about it causing a miscarriage, if she did.

If you can find other info, other stories from reputable sources, I'd love to see them. I'm keeping on searching every day for more.

34. the backward B!
I don't see how this case where there is an actual scarlet letter on the girls face screaming "I am lying" has any similarity at all to this case of a young woman who was without a doubt at all maced and roughed up by the cops. And lost her baby to boot.

35. The question is whether she "lost her baby". That is the question, not whether
she was pepper sprayed or not. 2 months ago she said she was 3 months pregnant. Now, 2 months later, she says she was 3 months pregnant.

Did you even read the links? Or did you just not comprehend them?

For women to use the pregnant excuse rather than getting arrested, but to lie about a miscarriage is wrong. And if this is true that she lied, I hope she gets the help she needs.
