People feel so powerless these days knowing the fix is in, and has been in for some long time. The costs associated with education have become out of reach for most and become a lifetime debt for others. Money has bought the political process almost paralyzing chance of reforms. College grads can't find work because American labor is outsourced to foreign laborers to satisfy the profits of stockholders. Money also buys the media ads which constantly demonize defenders of the environment, labor unions, or any entity that attempts to make life better here at home. So what do people do when mainstays like 'the Chamber of Commerce' or majors news outlets like 'Fox' beat a steady drumroll favoring the fortunate few and calling everyone else unworthy. Honestly, I was beginning to think that it was hopeless to try to fight these people, muchless win.
Yet, somehow, I see that anything is possible if the majority speaks with one voice and never loses its' resolve. If I could attend a rally within driving distance, I would love to. If there is something I can do more than just give moral support, I'd like to know. This is a decisive time for these young people to achieve a humane future for themselves and their environment. It's an enormous opportunity. I may be old, but I agree with their goals as I have understood them. I praise them for their efforts, their peaceful practice of assembly, and their incredible ability to endure against the greatest police and military state on earth. God speed and bless them.

a system that works for everyone and not just those lucky enough to have a job, food, housing and lots of wealth is what our elected officials should be inline with too, or else they need to go home...

You can find a local OWS Facebook page and donate money. You can go to Firedoglake and give money so they can kit them with winter gear, made in the us by nion labor.

8. The media is doing everything it can to keep the numbers of OWS protesters down. |
|
They've demonized the group from the beginning. Exaggerating and downright lying about violence/drug use, etc. This helped fuel the authorities extreme overreaction to OWS protests all over the country. Now, anyone who supports the protests and would like to participate has to wonder if they'll be able to do so without being beaten, pepper-sprayed and/or arrested!

9. Don't underestimate what your silent support means BUT in addition |
|
there's all kinds of additional support. Money has been mentioned, of course. But there are other things.
If you have Facebook, Twitter, and other social media accounts (esp. social bookmarking), spread the word. There are so many interesting and important facts coming to the fore that help explain WHY people are upset (and not just the active protesters), explain that the polls show OWS is winning, etc. You can help publicize their activities -- all those wonderful photos of their signs, music, videos, etc. The police brutality. Their plans. Etc.
