2. This isn't a surprise. I posted a thread about it yesterday.

While some packed their tents and left, others erected a makeshift barricade of boards and wood pallets outside the yurt that served as the movement’s library. Two masked protesters chained themselves to the yurt.

“Protect the books,” said one of the chained men, who was wearing a riot helmet. “In New York they took all the books.”

3. Occupy Mayor Ford.
TO's Occupation seems focused locally, and understandably so. Rob Ford is a like Canada's version of Jersey's Chris Christie. Not quite 1%, but willing to sell his soul to get himself there.

5. Occupy Edmonton is defying eviction notice as well...
Occupy Edmonton to resist eviction

Occupy Edmonton will not leave a downtown park and will peacefully resist any efforts to be moved, organizers said Tuesday.

"We will peacefully resist this latest eviction attempt," said Mike Hudema.

The protestors say they will leave the park at Jasper Avenue and 102nd Street peacefully only if what they describe as a "reasonable" list of demands are met They are prepared to stay at the site for years if need be.

List of demands

1. Government co-operates with Occupy's general assembly

2. Edmonton restores $10.5 million to city services

3. End "cosy relationship" between goverment and oil industry

4. Improve wages, pensions and unemployment benefits

5. Fully fund healthcare

6. Offer free post-secondary education

7. Tie trade agreements to stringent environment laws

8. More First Nation rights

The temperature in Edmonton this last weekend was -24 Celsius (-11F) but with the wind felt like -30 (-22F). I have the utmost respect for these Occupiers and support them wholeheartedly, in Edmonton and elsewhere.
