:facepalm: You gotta be kidding me.
http://www.oregonlive.com/window-shop/index.ssf/2011/11/black_friday_customer_already.html

<snip>

Mike O'Brien pitched his tent in front of the Gresham Best Buy Monday, four days before the consumer electronics retailer's midnight opening on Black Friday.

The camping trip, his third pre-Black Friday sojourn at Best Buy, made him the chain's first Black Friday customer in line across the Pacific Northwest. It also makes him quite the hero at home.

"My wife made me do it," said O'Brien, 43, who spoke from the warmth of his car Tuesday night, as he watched a movie and rain pelted his windows. His wife delivers dinners and although she had to work Tuesday, she plans to join him in the tent tonight.

It's not all bad, he said, except it was kind of loud when the blue portable toilets were dropped just outside his tent early Tuesday morning.

</snip>

Jeezus H. Christ. I need a drink.

6. Capitalist brainwashing at its finest...
From birth we are told that we must buy, buy and buy more! That we need that new car, or the new cologne, or that shiny new pair of shoes endorsed by some multi-millionaire basketball player. We are forged into the perfect host for parasitic corporations, and are taught that if we don't like something they say then we we're not "cool" or even that we will be put down.

It's a sad byproduct of our society that many would rather camp out for days for the newest game console, or to see the newest blockbuster movie, but not even spare an hour or so just to stand up for our freedoms.

It's a sad sad day in America...

15. Say "No" to Black Friday
My entire family (3 children, their spouses, 5 grandchildren, a few extended family members) has agreed to ZERO Holiday shopping this year. We will be contributing to food drives, community kitchens, and Occupy Anchorage, but no holiday shopping. The holidays will be about family and a meal together.

Tampa Woman Lines Up 9 Days Early For Best Buy's Black Friday Sale

November 17, 2011

While thousands of people her age are busy camping out in various Occupy movements around the country, a Florida woman decided last night to occupy the sidewalk outside her local Best Buy in order to be the first person to be disappointed by the Black Friday offerings on Nov. 25.

"You can't beat some of the deals they have on plasmas, flat screens and laptops," the young woman, who has coordinated her camp-out with three other families, tells Tampa's NBC affiliate. "We're all students; you've got to pinch a penny; it's affordable right now."

We don't know if she actually calculated the amount of money she and her cohorts are spending on their not-at-all-idiotic outdoors adventure. Because we're pretty sure she would still get the same deals if she showed up a mere few hours ahead of the Black Friday madness... or maybe just stayed at home and shopped online.
