1. National Geographic is such a great magazine.
I sincerely miss my subscription. I started getting it when I was maybe 7 or 8. Angry Rats

5. And wouldn't that scare the crap out of you
if you turned around after getting out of a tent? He would be picking out breakfast.

6. I thought their best from this year were the cover of the "spirit bear" issue, and the photo of the
five-year-old who was woken up early in the morning to be taken to her wedding.

10. Angry Ninja rat!

I'm amused and a little terrified.

This brown rat's angry display at the photographer reflects 73 generations of breeding for hostility to humans. Scientists at Novosibirsk and in Germany are comparing the aggressive rat genome to that of rats selected for friendliness, attempting to untangle connections between DNA and behavior.

13. Deliberately breeding rats hostile to humans...
when we can't control wild rodent populations and keep them out of our buildings and food...

This doesn't sound productive to me.

Love NG. Enjoyed the photos.

Don't like rats. I'd rather see a snake any day.

14. I grew up with National Geographic on the coffe table in my home.
I moved away from home in my late teens, and missed this doorway to The World,
and the dreams of exploration and adventure inspired by this publication.

During a telephone conversation with my father,
I asked him how much is cost to "subscribe" to National Geographic.

He replied, "Son, you still don't understand.
You don't 'subscribe" to National Geographic.
You JOIN the society, and pay dues.
They send you the magazine for free."
