State Dept. Attacks Conspiracy Theories
State Dept. Attacks Conspiracy Theories

In addition to handling the Obama administration’s diplomatic responsibilities, the State Department is also working on debunking conspiracy theories. On its suspended website (America.gov), the agency provides a section called: “Conspiracy Theories and Misinformation.” It’s pretty clear where the State Department stands on the subject, with the front-page declaration: “Conspiracy theories exist in the realm of myth, where imaginations run wild, fears trump facts and evidence is ignored.”

The State Department Site is divided into nine categories: September 11, Health, Military, Outer Space, Economics, U.S. Domestic, U.S. and Islam, Latin America and Others.

Although most of the conspiracy theories covered are farfetched, some have many advocates, in particular those relating to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2011. The site, which is no longer being updated, contends that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone when he shot President John F. Kennedy.

14. Ayup.
Fact is, to be able to perceive conspiracies taking place, a person needs to have a depth-perception that can penetrate into the hidden motivations of the players involved. Some people never grow past the mental development of a 14-year old. Those are the ones that can be convinced that conspiracy perceptions are nutso wackadoodle woo-woo and then stick that as adults with a vengeance.

2. The ministry of truth wants to ensure all citizens have an untroubled and safe peace of mind
Questions are dangerous and should not be wondered on, as the official sources tell us all is well. The only conspiracies that exist are the ones officially endorsed, such as the Sept 11th official theory and the Kennedy assassination Oswald official theory.

4. Right, the WTC's both collapsed because the fire on the 80th floor, weakened the supporting
steel all the way to the 7th sub basement. Sure, ya betcha there Charley.

7. Yep. And L.H. Oswald actually had the entire air defense system stand down with 'war games'.

16. Don't forget WTC #7 which is even more bizarre to me.
There are so many mysterious and puzzling aspects regarding 9/11.

I have no idea what to believe.

I do believe the government is hiding something though.

19. How building #7 fell isn't a mystery, but why it fell is.
Jerry Silverstein said he had to 'pull' the building mumbling some reasons about the 'terrible loss of life.' It had to have been set up for 'pulling' before that date, didn't it? From what I understand the damage to the building was nonexistent, or pretty much, and it didn't have to be demolished for any known reason.

20. The damage to the building prior to collapse seemed very minimal.
Nothing outwardly happened to it that would have caused it to fall the way it did.

The fires that ravaged and gutted WTC 3,4, and 5 did not bring those buildings down, and from everything I saw on WTC 7 the fires in that building were sparse indeed.

The fact the BBC reported that it had fallen around 25 minutes prior to its free-fall collapse is puzzling. That entire BBC footage is strikingly bizarre.

I've seen the clip where Jerry said he had to "pull IT". Apparently, he has subsequently claimed that he was referencing the firefighting team that was inside the building at the time, but I do not believe that story to be true. A firefighting team is not an "it", but a building is commonly referred to as an "it" and commonly referenced in exactly that context in the construction industry.

It's amazing how many people don't even know that 3 towers fell that day. What was IN WTC 7, and what was lost in WTC 7's collapse troubles me.

And let's not talk about the exact location of the Pentagon disaster and what was lost there either.

The terrorists couldn't have protected monied interests any better on that day than they did it seems. Puzzling...

5. Trying to keep their lies straight
By attacking the "conspiracy theories" they will only increase the interest of those who, until then, had paid them little attention.

Anyone who trusts the "official story" without investigating further does a disservice to truth.

13. Very interesting...

"In 2008, while at Harvard Law School, Sunstein co-wrote a truly pernicious paper proposing that the U.S. Government employ teams of covert agents and pseudo-”independent” advocates to “cognitively infiltrate” online groups and websites — as well as other activist groups — which advocate views that Sunstein deems “false conspiracy theories” about the Government."

I think I know of a few of those.

call the State Dept. 'Coincidence Theorists' :)

Having the 9-11 Commission Executive Director be Philip Zelikow should signal all but the most naive that the fix was and is in. The 1% are looking out for their interests and not for ours.

10. You mean they're shutting down the CIA? Wow - that's news.
Do they mention the Iran-Contra conspiracy theory? The "agent provocateurs" conspiracy theory? The "Bush wants war" conspiracy theory? The "The Patriot Act is a plot to take away our constitutional rights" conspiracy theory?

the Joint Congressional Inquiry DIDN'T conclude that and Bush DIDN'T classify that part of their report?
