Jimmy Fallon to Michelle Bachmann: Sorry for Roots' Rudenes
Jimmy Fallon to Michelle Bachmann: Sorry for Roots' Rudenes

The Late Night host took to Twitter to offer up a mea culpa to Republican presidential hopeful Michelle Bachmann for the hubbub caused by his house band, The Roots, who subtly bashed her on Monday night by playing Fishbone's "Lyin' Ass Bitch" as her intro music.

"I'm honored that @michelebachmann was on our show yesterday and I'm so sorry about the intro mess. I really hope she comes back," tweeted Fallon.

...

Before she appeared on the show, Roots' drummer Questlove gave a heads-up to fans that he and his fellow Grammy winners had a snarky surprise for the GOPer. "Aight late night walkon song devotees: you love it when we snark: this next one takes the cake. ask around cause i aint tweeting title," he tweeted.

...

Questlove hasn't spoken of the matter since he retweeted a post by his boss saying, "Questlove is grounded."

2. I've never seen an entire show.
Actually, I can't say I've ever seen more than 10 minutes. But The Roots seem like a good band.

3. Don't hold your breath waiting for an apology from ?uestlove
Personally I'm still waiting for Bachmann to apologize for all the lies she has told us.

5. She's one of the people attempting to drive America into the ground.
And they're doing a great job of it.

No apology required. These "people" should be openly reviled more than Sgt. Pepperspray because they're doing far more damage!

6. I personally think every politico appearing on a "talk show" should have an intro song fitting
his/her persona. Ideas for Rick Perry? Cain? Ron Paul? The possibilities are endless -- and the Roots could no doubt do some hilarious justice to these pompous know-nothings.

9. They could go hog wild. I'm glad to see the Roots taking a stand against the teabaggers.

8. Gracious of Fallon to apologize on someone else's behalf
But I'm guessing that the casual viewer had no idea what intro song was being played when Bachmann came on, in which case it's tough to see where offense might have been given, even if it was heartily meant. That is, if I flip you off behind your back (let's just say), and we both walk away, where's the harm? Unless, of course, some busybody who can't leave well enough alone goes running after you to say, "Ummmm! gratuitous just flipped you off!"

Granted, this occurred in a far more public forum, where the probability of busybodies shooting their mouths off is 100%, but jeez people, MYOB.

10. I don't think he should have apologized for this. On the other hand he should beg for
forgiveness over every SNL skit he fucked up by laughing (once or twice is cute but...). Also apologize for that Queeen Latifah movie and his general "not funniness".
