The anti-thanksgiving threads tradition
Its a DU tradition by now, I'm surprised to not see any yet, maybe I missed it? The passionate anti-thanksgiving tirades about how evil the holiday is and shameful it is for celebrating what we did to the native Americans and so on. Personally, I don't care much about the holiday one way or another and I guess neutral is the best way to describe my take on it.

Maybe these kinds of threads will be more popular tomorrow?

1. Tomorrow I am looking forwards to a quiet day at home
But to get you started. A woman chided me for violating her tradition by getting a DUCK. much smaller bird, perfect for two people and two conures.

But serious ten minute tirade on how duck was not eaten by them pilgrims and how it went against her.

I answered with...next time get decaf! And walked away.

Only reason I took it...character sketch.

19. I come from Italian american family also. We have turkey and mash
potatoes, corn on the cobb, stuffing, then a lasagna, dinner rolls and of course wine and dessert. My mom use to cook enough to feed the neighborhood. Our neighbors always stopped by at our house. We would have long tables and everybody enjoying the meals. It is always fun. Christmas we have chicken cutlets, potato souffle', calzones, salads pasta sauce. When we make calzones we have a line with people stuffing another sealing calzone and the other frying the calzones. OMG how delicious and so much fun. All the neighbors come over. New Years is a quiet day. We don't do anything big. Everyone stays home and recoups from all the holidays and going to church. I love being with my family when we go home. I call them most everyday. I sure miss them.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE. May you all have peace and the love we all want.

20. i'm not italian but my first husband was.
his mom taught me how to cook italian food. my ex mother in law always made lasagna on thanksgiving. my ex had to have macaroni every sunday. if we ate at my mom's house on the way home we had to stop at his brother's house so he could have it. lol.

7. Hugs, nadin. I'm going to sit in my house and count my blessings.
I have one. The OWS movement began before I died. My very old dogs are getting over health problems. I am loved by my family and they will feed me. :) The world is beautiful and I get music from Pandora on my computer. Christmas music. :) Nothing like getting a jump start on the next one. Being happy and thankful for the bounty in my life and the love, that is what I am going to do tomorrow.

5. When can we start the War on Christmas?
The Thanksgiving traditionalists always insist we can't start the war until Friday.

14. My dad had to go to the hospital today, so...
Who knows if there will even BE Thanksgiving dinner at my house.

My mom does the cooking. She had to leave this big pile of bread cubes (for stuffing) on the stovetop to drop everything and get my dad to the ER.

He's okay now. He had to have a procedure for a collapsed lung.
