A dear friend is watching a loved one die today

Her family canceled their Thanksgiving plans and are at the bedside. She's sending me texts to keep me updated. Hospice just came by and said it would only be a few more hours.

Makes me stop and be even more thankful for the blessings I have.

quite true, many of us are blessed each day in many ways and sometimes forget how lucky we might be.

6. That is such a gut-wrenching situation

I've been through it, not at Thanksgiving, but watching my father die while holding vigil with the family. It is gut wrenching, painful, exhausting. My sympathies to this family.

7. I know what you mean. My friend's husband just had a stroke

and it's touch and go.

Death and life, always intertwined, but so much of the time we manage to forget . . . .
