One in Four Bridges are in danger in this country.... |
|
One in four.
Do you feel lucky today?
The US invests than 2% of GNP into the building and maintaining our infrastructure.
India and China, our major economic competitors, are investing 7-9% in their infrastructure.
We are headed toward a major decline in our already declining standard of living if we don't invest money and resources into renewing the infrastructure of our country.
Not only won't we remain competitive, we will have trouble just moving goods and services around this country.

1. That is just so unacceptable. |
|
And who voted down Obama's plan to fix our infrastructure?
The fucking Republicans.
It is so damn wrong.
I had not realized that it was one in four. 25%.
Disgusting.

2. In 1988 I took a materials science course where the prof worked with the DOT. Brigdes dying then. |
|
He toured bridges all over the country taking samples and evidence. Corrosion was reducing the integrity of bridges all over the US back then. Now we're around 20 years on, and still spending away on military to the exclusion of our vital infrastructure.
I'd rather see this work done than upgrading other areas of the country. It's vital.
