Boehner gets emotional at JFK inauguration event
January 20, 2011, 3:02 pm by Christina Wilkie

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) was moved to tears on Thursday afternoon in the Capitol at a ceremony that, while solemn, was not intended to be sad.

The occasion was the 50th anniversary of Democratic President John F. Kennedy's historic 1961 inaugural address, known worldwide for the lines, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country."

An ITK spy said the notoriously emotional Republican leader appeared to start crying about 15 minutes into the ceremony.

Boehner was seated on the podium next to Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who appeared to enjoy the hourlong program of events, including the brief speeches by Vice President Joe Biden, Kennedy's daughter, Caroline Kennedy, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), among others.

Luckily Boehner regained his composure before it was time for him to deliver remarks to the more than 300 assembled guests. In his speech, Boehner cited lines from a 1962 Kennedy address wherein the president called for reducing "deterrents to private enterprise," by which Boehner said Kennedy meant lower taxes.

3. Goddamn I wish one of my ohio reps would quit crying.
There are like, 4 (maybe 5) reasons for a grown man to cry.

Losing/wrecking your sportscar/boat
Losing your dog
Losing a child or parent
Losing your lover
When your wife finds out you had a lover

10. You know how much this cut into his drinking time?
That's John's time, and he doesn't like to curtail it. You'd be crying, too!

Just give him a bottle or two of the good stuff, and that will shut off the water works.

18. I don't know why he's crying....
If Kennedy was re-incarnated John Boehner would coldy dismiss him as a "socialist".

19. OK.
This crying shtick is really getting annoying. Someone please explain to him it loses its effect when he does it every time the cameras are on. Of course he didn't shed a single tear over the Tucson shooting because it wasn't about him.

20. He's just so sad
that the large Catholic family he was born into didn't have the money of that other large Catholic family. Didn't have the social conscience, either, but that's not what Ickyleaks was crying over.

Now they cry at Walmart openings. It's a way they've devised to trick
people into thinking they're human.

Little girl gets murdered by a libertarian/bagger in Tuscon and not a
single Bagger or GOPer can squeeze a tear.

Deny, deny, deny and if the cameras are rolling, cry.

22. What will it take to get some kind of psych eval on him?
I'm not kidding.

I've never seen the frequency and blubbering in a grown man Boehner exhibits on a daily basis, and I do not believe it's the sign of a healthy individual.

I might also add that the males in my own family who seemed given to inappropriate tears also had a significant problem with alcohol...
