FYI: Sunlight Foundation's Influence Explorer
http://influenceexplorer.com/">Checking Influence

Type in the name of a company, your lawmaker or a prominent individual, and see how they're influencing the political system.

Checking Influence is a new tool from the Sunlight Foundation that you can use to find out how companies you do business with every day are wielding political influence through lobbying and campaign contributions. Checking Influence helps you be an informed consumer and citizen.

Just add Checking Influence to your bookmarklet bar and then go to any web page that has bank transactions (wherever you do online banking, like your banking site, credit card site, or Mint.com). Then, just click on the Checking Influence bookmarklet in your toolbar.

What's New

Influence Explorer now includes data on lobbyist bundling: lobbyist and lobbying firms that collect contributions from other donors on behalf of politicians. Through bundling, an donor who could normally only give a limited amount of money is able to present a candidate with far larger amounts of money. To get started, check out our overview of lobbyist bundling data, or look for the new Bundled Contributions table on politician pages, lobbyist pages and lobbying firm pages.

Our Data

Our data is provided by the Center for Responsive Politics, the National Institute for Money in State Politics, Taxpayers for Common Sense, the Project On Government Oversight, the EPA and USASpending.gov.

Developers

Influence Explorer is built entirely on the public Transparency Data API. For more information see the API docs or the Python docs.
