A CONSULTANT at an Irish hospital is leaving for Libya this weekend to become the country's new Minister for Health, writes Elaine Keogh.
Dr Fatima Hamroush (53), a mother of four, has been a consultant opthamologist in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda since 2000, and describes Julianstown in Co Meath as her "second home".
But her home country is Libya, which has recently been ravaged by violence and unrest, culminating in the overthrowing of Colonel Gaddafi.
