:puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke:

i wonder if beck and o'reilly will follow it up with a talk on honestly and civility.

"John has served publicly in government and in the private sector with the highest levels of character and integrity," Character Fort Collins said in a statement announcing his speech. "John will be challenging us to be a community that continues to strive toward the highest levels of character and integrity. His broad experiences will motivate our community leaders to continue this journey of building our community of character."

1. Well,
He certainly is one, so it may be appropriate that he speaks on the subject.

2. Why doesn't he become an Olympic pole vaulter?
Or perform open-heart surgery? Or come up with a unified field theory? If he can go that far afield he can do anything! :)

4. I was in FoCo on Tuesday,
caught no whiff of Ashcroft at that time. Then again, I live in Greeley where the whiffs can get downright toxic. . .

15. "Character" - Dominionist codeword - Wasilla AK is a "City of Character", too
Edited on Thu Jan-20-11 10:07 PM by earthboundmisfit
Here's an excellent informative DU post from a couple years back by Madfloridan on the International Association of Character Cities (IACC) - this will explain why Ashcroft is visiting: Wasilla, Alaska, City of Character. A "faith-based" city.

And the Character Fort Collins website sure enough states that they are part of this group - the following is from their About Us page http://characterfortcollins.org/aboutus.html:
"Character Fort Collins is a community-wide initiative launched in the fall of 2001 through joint resolutions of the City of Fort Collins, the Larimer County Board of Commissioners, and the Poudre School District Board of Education. Later a similar resolution was also passed by Colorado State University. The signers of the resolutions pledged their own organizations' commitment to promoting good character in the community, and encouraged all citizens to do likewise.

Those resolutions launched our "Community of Character" initiative. In so doing, we joined over 150 other communities around the world affiliated through the International Association of Character Cities (IACC).

The Character Council of Greater Fort Collins, a 501(c)(3) corporation, was formed to guide the effort. We function under the "doing business as" name of Character Fort Collins and have now expanded beyond our city boundaries to Character Colorado."

IACC is part of batshit-crazy - evangelist Bill Gothard's network of Dominionist groups... Creepy, no?

19. Get your prayer on.
an ex-friend (dept. of prisons)witnessed McVeigh's execution. They had a little prayer gathering in Singin' john's digs prior to the show. The friend declined, which is too bad. it would have been interesting to see how that went.

20. And I suppose they'll have to rig up a curtain for him to stand behind, like the man from 0z.
Good grief, the thugs' grasp on this country has been surreal since the day Bush was handed the WH.
