Arizona plane crash: Six confirmed dead


The six passengers on board a small plane that crashed in the Superstition Mountains Wednesday evening have been confirmed dead, Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu said.

Aboard the small twin-engine plane were: Joseph Hardwick, 22, mechanic; pilot and aircraft owner Russell Hardy, 31; pilot Shawn Perry, 39; and Perry's three children, Morgan, 9, Logan, 8, and Luke, 6.

The cause of the crash has not been identified, Babeu said, and federal investigators are still in the process of travelling to the Valley.

Perry and his children were traveling to Safford, Ariz., for Thanksgiving, Pinal County Sheriff's Office spokesman Elias Johnson said.

We have a family friend, who also lives in Phoenix, that lost her entire family in a plane crash during the holidays.

I will surely be keeping her in my thoughts today too. I know this has to hit a little too close to home for her.
