OWS is evolving and adapting
to deal with the changing conditions on the ground. What is coming next will again surprise those who are intent on stopping it. OWS is a direct challenge to the state and the status quo... and you will see it change, I also expect people to be "concerned" as it does. It goes with the territory.

I will document, that is all.

2. Among other things
My expectation is that some of it will take a more radical and traditional way of doing things... like strikes as well

4. It's a reasonable response when we outnumber but don't outgun them.
I think whenever a protest even THREATENS to become surrounded or kettled that everyone needs to quietly pack up and go home, and three other protests instantly appear in different parts of town.

Multiply as necessary.

5. Lets hope there is no more occupy Black Friday type nonsense...
...which didn't do the slightest bit of good in either deterring shoppers, closing retail outlets or otherwise making the tiniest bit of difference. Such tactics are stupid and trivialize the entire movement.

The idea that occupy could even slightly effect US retail sales on a massive shopping day was simply silly and makes the organizers look like crack pots with delusions of grandeur.

6. Of course, we all should buy at Wallmart.

I suggest you go to a ga and to pose that. Serious.

By the way that you link to is not a part of occuy...flash mobs in stores, on the other hand were. None was trying to slow things but educate people.

8. That isn't what I said...
I said the concept of occupy Black Friday was dumb. It was bound to fail and trivializes the entire movement. And as it was doomed to fail so spectacularly, it generates nothing but negative media buzz. Filling shopping carts with goods, leaving them at the front of the store and Mic checking at a few Walmarts is not going to change anything. It just irritates customers, creates headaches for store clerks who have to restock that stuff and otherwise looks foolish.

Movements needs to set achievable goals so they can claim victories. Unrealistic goals naturally won't be met and give the appearance of failure. Not all publicity is good publicity. Occupy will never generate support from average, non-partisan working folks by interrupting shoppers and inconveniencing workers at box stores.

9. And I am telling you that was not a general assembly thing
Edited on Sun Nov-27-11 03:33 AM by nadinbrzezinski
Leaderless movements, remember that.

I can declare an occupy the media...what re my chances right now? Far more urgent by the way.

I should add the mic checks at Wally worlds, at least locally people joined in and smiled. Also you do know for many of those shoppers the information was like new since my local news, or city council, does not discuss the true cost of a Wallmart super center.

I might add your arguments...let's switch year to 1880 and strike over flash mob

Yes, you are making awful familiar arguments every time people fight back
