My visit to La Quinta Ca and my (Published) letter to the ed of the Desert Sun
We went to visit family in Indio for Turkey day. My step Daught who is a progressive soul, subscribes to the local news-rag called the Desert Sun. The day I got there, there was some asshole who got his letter published who felt that everyone who had to work on Thanksgiving should just shut up and be greatful that they had a job. Well, shit disturber that I am, I wrote a letter to the editor that got published today. To wit:

Ken Lietner wrote to express his opinion that employees being asked to work through the holidays instead of spending time with their families should stop complaining and just be grateful that they have a job. I expect Ken has similar disdain for the eight-hour day and the weekend. It was precisely this attitude toward labor — “Do what you're told, and shut up because there are 10 people waiting for your job!” — that started the labor movement in the first place. We who work for a living have fought too hard to be treated with dignity to go back to the days of Upton Sinclair's “Jungle” just so the 1 percent can make a few more dollars.

Buddy P. Gill, Tucson, Ariz.

The coments are interesting and if you feel inclined, add your own.

3. Ah, the Desperate Scum
I lived in Indio for seven years, and I remember it well. Not fondly, but well.

5. I saw your letter, here's what I found to be the "most stoopidist" reply:
The 1% stuff is total non sense. These businesses are owned by stockholders, that even may be you. They supply the life blood for 401K investments which many workers are vested for their retirement. Without a heakthy economy, which we currentlky do not have, investments decline and retirement benefits suffer. Of course with the irresponsible members of our state legislature , retirement benefits for state and some county and city employees is really in jeopardy.

:eyes:

Just pathetic, as if 401Ks were great investments.

Fuck that shit.

Great letter, K/R
