Mayor Villaraigosa Announces New Funding For Housing and Homelessness Programs
"This year, Los Angeles will receive over $72 million from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to help fight homelessness across the City. Comprised of nearly $60 million in grants for ongoing programs and more than $12 million in new money for the Shelter Plus Care initiative, these grants represent a 26 percent increase in funding since last year. According to HUD, this is the largest federal funding award ever given to the City and County of Los Angeles to help the homeless."

Villaraigosa quietly plans to hand Gensler $1 million meant for the poor
By Martin Berg Thursday, Apr 21 2011
"How did Los Angeles city leaders turn $1 million intended to help downtown’s homeless and low-income denizens into a proposed subsidy for the global architecture firm designing downtown’s proposed NFL football stadium?"
And you'll have to look it up yourself, but the events depicted in the film "The Soloist" are true, with promises made broken, with the homeless forced out of an area developers wanted to turn into ritzy lofts, etc. etc.
Democrat In Name Only. VILLAINaigosa. That multimillion dollar grant would possibly solve the downtown homeless problem. Would possibly help to clean up the area, where crack is smoked on the street all day long. Downtown LA is hell, in the homeless areas. Do not underestimate this.
Each #Occupy has been highly instrumental in calling to task, each respective city's "authority" and all of the skeletons in their closets. We should all be thankful for the spotlight it has provided upon our problems, problems which must be solved.
