They have gone round the bend, now: Fox noise had a guy on
around Thanksgiving who was saying it is a problem that teachers are teaching the "lie" that the pilgrims shared with the native Americans, and it was a good thing. His thesis is that the pilgrims starved because they shared. That is what should be taught to our children. So tonight I am flipping channels, and on Fox Business channel the guy was on John Stossel's show. The big title below was "The Tragedy of Sharing". Geez Louise!

2. Almost sounds like tragedy
And what happened to their so-called devotion to "traditional values?"

6. Avarice is a traditional value.
Along with hatred, envy, and the generalized worship of ignorance.

I know I'm forgetting some.

4. I'm speechless.
Anyway, it was the Wampanoag who gave food to the Pilgrims. The tragedy of sharing indeed. They'd have been a lot better off if they had just let the English starve out.

5. Newsflash: The Pilgrims would have either been malnourished or starved
if they hadn't received survival techniques and food from the Native Americans.

15. Want to really watch their heads spin, ask how the pilgrims could communicate w the native Americans
Research shows the indigenous population spoke fluent French and Spanish, and some English. Squanto for sure had multiple languages.

32. How could a group of that size have that problem?
They must have been quite religious. The "strong" didn't force the "weak" to work? What kind of "strong" people are they?

1620s, eh? Wow, it will work the same now, I bet! The poor "strong" people, doing all that work!!

35. More Conservative Revisionist History. The first winter they starved, the next fall they feast
and they "shared" with the natives (if you can call it sharing since they were basically just squatters on land they had no rights to).

37. E-mail going around: Free markets saved the Pilgrims.
From this 1985 article: http://dailycapitalist.com/2011/11/24/the-real-first-thanksgiving/

4 of every 5 colonists "chose to be parasites" and switching from socialism to free markets saved them!

"Before these free markets were established, the colonists had nothing for which to be thankful. They were in the same situation as Ethiopians are today, and for the same reasons. But after free markets were established, the resulting abundance was so dramatic that the annual Thanksgiving celebrations became common throughout the colonies, and in 1863, Thanksgiving became a national holiday.

Thus the real reason for Thanksgiving, deleted from the official story, is: Socialism does not work; the one and only source of abundance is free markets, and we thank God we live in a country where we can have them, for now anyway."

Reading the entire article may cause nausea....
