Lindsey Graham calls for using military against American citizens
America is a "battleground," says South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham.

The US government has been slowly eradicating the Posse Commitatus Act of 1878. That act banned the US government from using the US military in domestic law enforcement. Over the past few decades the US government has repeatedly violated the act. However, many Republicans have insisted that the Posse Comitatus Act needs to be respected to protect the rights of American Citizens.

South Carolina's left-wing Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, however, is supporting provisions to eradicate Posse Comitatus and dramatically expand the powers of the Federal government.

The US Senate Armed Forces Committee, led by Carl Levin (D-MI) and John McCain (R-AZ), held a secret closed door session to insert ominous new Federal powers into the Defense Authorization Bill. This is the annual bill to fund the US military. These new powers were requested by the Obama administration.

30. Yes, The very first time I heard it, I flashed Nazi.
The police already look like storm troopers on a web gear binge. I would like my police dressed like Andy Taylor.
We do not need the military in action in this country. They already have a job.

8. Here is what the paper printed about the author of the article
Kyle Rogers

Kyle is a Conservative activist in South Carolina. He co-organized the 2006 Greenville, SC rally against the Lindsey Graham/Ted Kennedy sponsored amnesty bill. More than 1,000 people attended. The event helped launch the SC Tea Party movement. He has organized numerous other conservative protests and events as well.

He must be a real moron.

9. President Obama has already set the precedent that US citizens can be killed with no due process...
So I don't see that we really can complain when we (as a Democratic Party) fail to rise in opposition to that.

How can one accept the murder of a 16-year old American from Colorado based solely on a secret assassination list and then complain about some hints that the other side is doing something less of an affront to the Constitution?

You see? That's the problem with having no moral compass or political consistency folks. You cede any moral authority you may have once claimed.

22. TP's vs establishment Republicans

It's probably more or less true but the way it is presented, oh boy. A new 'civil war' may erupt within the Republican Party. Romney will not do well here and the wack pack will probably double his total, the TP's own the primaries.

South Carolina, too small to be a nation, too large to be an insane asylum.

28. If you read the article .... this is clearly a Tea Party attack on Graham ...
see the logo on the left edge of the page RHNIO HUNT .... and the author is a "conservative activist" who organized a rally against Graham.

Too funny.

31. Yep. The nutters here hate him.
This state is full of FAR-right John Bircher types, and from their perspective, Miss Lindsay is a commiepinkosocialistlibrul. Come Graham's re-election, they'll probably tamper with the voting machines again, like they did during the 2008 Democratic primaries that stuck us with Alvin Greene. Their boy, Jim DeMented was looking at getting voted out, and they couldn't take any chances. I have little doubt they'll find another crazyperson to challenge him and win. It wouldn't surprise me if they did the same to get this ignorant bint of theirs installed into the Governorship.

33. Yup ... I'm in NC, and we've visited SC many times.
There seem to be some islands of normal, surrounded by an ocean of right wing crazy. The fact that so many now see Graham as too far to the left is absolutely hilarious.

I would have thought that his prominent role in the impeachment of Clinton would have ensured that SC would build statues and monuments in Graham's honor.

32. This is about using the military to track down the brown people
The military is already being used to assist CBP with tracking down illegal immigrants and drug smugglers. However, they have a considerable amount of restrictions due to Posse Comitatus.

Now Graham and McCain well understand the military is looking at severe cutbacks and reductions in force once the missions in Iraq and Afghanistan are over. More importantly their defense contractor paymasters understand it. Therefore they must find new missions for the military to keep this from happening. So rather than do things like reform immigration policy and legalize pot, which would be obvious to anyone north of a room temperature IQ, they are looking at new ways to use the military on the border.

34. I think the issue concerns some wording in sections 1031 and 1032 of the 682 page S. 1867
(National Defense Authorization Act)

These sections reflect continued wrangling over the status of GITMO detentions and similar detentions

If I understand correctly, the ACLU is asking folk to support Udall's proposed amendment S.AMDT.1107: you can find the text near page S7730 of the Congressional Record for the 112th

That should be enough to get you started on a Thomas search
