Man charged in Windsor's 1st homicide in 2 years (Ontario)

Police have charged Jesse Meloche, 30, with the first-degree murder of Lance Smoke, 40.

Smoke was found stabbed several times in the torso at a residence of the 1400 block of Albert Road around 11 p.m. Thursday.

When police arrived on scene, they found Smoke bleeding from a number of stab wounds to his body. He was transported to Hôtel-Dieu hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Smoke is originally from Brantford and known to police.

I live in Windsor, a city of 215,000 just across the river from Detroit, and this is the first murder we've had since Sept 2009. (Yes, I am absolutely blowing my own town's horn!)
