With Frank's retirement and Baldwin running for Senate
we are likely to be down to one openly gay member of the US House, and if Baldwin loses, the US Congress. I hope Barney enjoys his retirement. Actually, I hope he decides to serve in the Obama Cabinet as Treasury Secretary, not only would he be great, he would also be historic as the first openly gay cabinet Secretary. Representation matters.

1. I read he wants to lecture and write. After all of the years he has spent
in that hell hole one can hardly blame him for wanting to get out. He has a life he wants to live and I don't blame him. He could devote some time to being a thorn in the repubs side, this could be a lot of fun.

2. I think you meant to say 'US Senate' not the 'US Congress'
because The U.S. House is part of The U.S. Congress

4. He is the one we will be down to
If she wins the Senate seat we would have him in the House and Baldwin in the Senate. She is a non prohibative favorite in the primary and a very slight favorite in the general.

3. Secretary of the Teasury would be great
Then Brietbart can deny any Tea Bagger ever called a cabinet member a faggot.

5. Marc Pocan is running for Tammy Baldwin's congressional seat

He is openly gay and he is a great candidate - has been in the State Assembly for a while - and he will win. I think Tammy has to resign to run for Senate.

7. I met Tammy Baldwin nearly 13 years ago
It was at an LGBT conference in Madison, WI. She had just begun her tenure in the US House a few weeks before. After she did her session (I think she did the key note address), she spoke to us, a group of students who had gone to the conference together from a school in Missouri. I was so impressed with her, and wished she could be my congresswoman!

One of the people in my group, while listening to her, absentmindedly began picking off some lint from her blazer. I don't know WHAT the guy was thinking. She was good-natured about it but it was terribly embarrassing.

8. She and I had a good happy cry together in June at state convention.
We were talking about how inspiring the people and Democrats of Wisconsin have been and how proud we are to be cheesy. Then Herb Kohl hugged me and told me he loved me. :)

I love this state.

9. That's so cool!
She seems to be an approachable person!

Thinking about hugs from senators, I would rather eat dirt than get a hug from the likes of Roy Blunt! Not that he would ever offer me one. UGH, now I have a mental picture of being hugged by Roy Blunt. Must...find...brain bleach.

10. Well I can't risk getting too close to our other Senator for fear my reflexes to
"hock a loogie" in his face would be too much to control.

Baldwin is amazing. So kind and genuine. Herb is also. And a Wisconsin icon. A lot of people think he's gay, too.
