New Scam Warning: UPS package not delivered. Don't open e-mail.
I just read this on the news. There is a new scam trying to trap online shoppers. It's an e-mail message that looks official. It's from UPS stating that your package could not be delivered.

It's a virus.

Don't open it.

1. If you have ordered something, you can track it from the UPS website.
No need to play the email game. Bastards.

11. I received one, and they send them sporadically. It was when I was ordering stuff from Amazon.
I opened it and it was code, didn't go anywhere but I'd sure as hell like to know how they knew I was online tracking my shipments. I set my filter to send all of them to spam and don't open them now.

Although the problem actually began earlier, when I got scammed by what I thought was a good site, advertising on a site I usually ordered things from. It turned out the site was in English and selling American products but when it came it was from China and they insisted on a signatures at the post office.

I still gave it a try and it was essentially a blank box with nothing useful. Their return policy was to pay to ship it back to get a refund which was more than the item cost. And it wasn't that cheap.

They had an gmail account which when I looked it up was the source of many scams, and found out there are a lot of these. They are still online and scamming Americans. No way to stop these.

Watch for this, they do a good job of making the email fit what you are currently doing.Last one I looked at the title of, was the same scam, trying to make it look like they were FedEx, USPS and UPS. But I hadn't ordered anything for a long time..

9. Thank you for clarifying the "attachment" portion of the warning
Too many people just say "don't open that email" when in reality, the email client automatically opens emails, unless you send them directly to the trash or something. Far as I know, the email itself isn't the problem, it's always the attachment, and anyone uninformed enough to open an attachment that they aren't 100% sure about is, well, bait for these scammers.

3. I get those nearly every day.
Fortunately, my virus scanner catches it every time.

4. What I've been getting lately is emails about my ACH bank payments
The fact that they go directly to my junk mail -- my bank is not on my junk mail list -- speaks for itself.

6. I get all kinds of weird notices
Edited on Mon Nov-28-11 07:14 PM by leftyladyfrommo
about uncredited payments or returned payments - that kind of thing.

Or notices about problems with my bank accounts.

My bank doesn't have my e-mail address and they wouldn't contact me that way if there was a problem. They would either send Certified Mail or phone.

One scammer here in Kansas City sent out problem warnings to people with accounts at an area bank. I guess they sent out thousands and the bank was trying to deal with it. It was all bogus.

Oh, and I've gotten e-mail warnings supposedly from the IRS. Problems with my tax account.

12. I've been getting these for a while, and it's not just UPS.
Or I should say, allegedly UPS. DHL, too. They wind up in my spam folder. Just don't open the attachment and you should be okay.

13. UPS doesn't have my email address
I also have about 10 email boxes. Most are used for specific purposes, so when I get one of these or a phishing attempt on a box that has no connection to any business transacted, I know what it is.
