Eat More Kale. Just Don't Confuse It With Chikin.
http://www.commondreams.org/further/2011/11/30-0

A Vermont folk artist and eco-friendly small businessman is being threatened with legal action by the Atlanta-based, anti-gay-marriage-crusading fast food behemoth Chick-fil-A because his benign, healthy t-shirt slogan of "Eat More Kale" dangerously resembles their obnoxious, spelling-challenged slogan of "Eat Mor Chikin." Bo Muller-Moore, who calls it "a David and Goliath battle," has a lawyer, a website and now a petition from Change.org, which calls Chick-fil-A's actions "a clear case of corporate bullying."

A lawyer for Chick-fil-A said Muller-Moore's effort "is likely to cause confusion of the public and dilutes the distinctiveness of Chick-fil-A's intellectual property and diminishes its value."

1. His logo doesn't look a thing like the Chick-Fil-A one, either.
Not even close.

Plus, he knows how to spell "more."

Anyone who confuses KALE with Chik-n has bigger problems than the average Joe Public.

2. It all centers around the word 'eat'? If he had used "Buy more kale" s
they would not have gone after him?

3. There are no Chick-Fil-A's in Vermont.

Not one.

So apparently the "Eat More Kale" shirts are keeping Vermonters from driving to New Hampshire for their processed chicken fix. :eyes:

4. No, they did that all by themselves.
A lawyer for Chick-fil-A said Muller-Moore's effort "is likely to cause confusion of the public and dilutes the distinctiveness of Chick-fil-A's intellectual property and diminishes its value."

Using slang on their tee shirts diminishes the value and the intellectual property in and of itself. I have no idea what they are promoting with that slogan that sounds more like like a slur making fun of a demographic. It's not even a close call in my mind.

5. Eat more kale--it goes well with fillet of Chick-Fil-A spokescow...
...and a nice Chianti.

6. Never been in a Chick-Fil-A and had no idea about their conservative leanings
This lawsuit seems as frivolous as the Lindsay Lohan one against Pitbull.

8. His logo isn't even misspelled.
I really am hating on chick-fil-a, so much I ordered a shirt from this guy.

9. Because no one before has thought to say "Eat more (fill in the blank)"?
Hmmm... Glad he has a lawyer. Lets bring down another corporate bully. Especially one that can't even spell.

10. Is Chik-fil-A dominionistic? Their grand-opening here was accompanied by
a 2-day churchy youth group slumber-party in their parking lot, written up as some kind of youth activism by our local paper.

It'd be interesting to look at whom they hire.

The food is not that great -- overly salted and deep fried. Easy to avoid.

12. Not sure if they're dominionistic, but..........
they have ties (donations of money & goods) to several "Family First" type organizations (I tried googling for the specific ones, but I'm at work, so time is limited -- only one I could put my fingers on at the moment is the Pennsylvania Family Institute) that are the big push behind the anti-same sex marriage legislation that keeps popping up all over the place. Part of their mission statement reads: "to glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us.”, and all of their stores are closed on Sunday as a matter of corporate policy.

They are, obviously, entitled to their beliefs and to put them into practice however they see fit, but I am also free to not spend my money at an establishment that will, in turn, contribute part of that money to causes which seek to trample the rights of others.
