darn - Crisco has modified soybean in it |
|
I phoned them and they said yes modified soybean can be 'bundled' with real soybeans. (real is my word)
sigh. here's hoping they haven't tampered with olives.

1. real oils are beneficial to the human system |
|
hydrogenated oils are not. Glad the universe gave you a reason to quit putting that in your body. Hydrogenated oils must get to the temp of 300 degrees or so to melt...something beyond our human capability. Try olive oil (first cold pressed) for the greatest benefits. Nut and seed oils support life, manufactured oil does not. over :hi:

5. for delicate things like breads and cakes |
|
I use almond or hazelnut or walnut oil depending on the food. I love butter too, but right now, I'm doing an allergy cleanse and have temporarily (I hope) dropped dairy from the diet. Coconut oil is a great oil for baking too.

3. 100% of soybeans grown are genetically modified if that is what you mean. |
|
The only ones not genetically modified are wild varieties and no one grows them.
But I suspect what you really mean are "Roundup Ready" soybeans, which have been modified using genetic engineering techniques - "GMO" beans for short, but something of a misnomer. In that case the picture still is not pretty. Probably nearly 90% of soybeans are GMO, so a company would have to really "work" to avoid using them.
Worse than the GMO aspect in my opinion, is that to make something like Crisco, soybean oil is "hydrogenated", which creates trans fatty acids.
If you use olive oil you will avoid the trans fatty acids and probably the GMO part also. Who wants to eat a cookie made with olive oil, though? I don't. All things in moderation is my motto.
