All-in With Allstate...Or Else
Whether it is your phone, internet and television bills or your auto, home and life insurance policies…give all your business to the same company and you are often rewarded with a discount.

So could refusing to bundle cost you money? Or in some cases, cost you a policy.

Several Arkansans are upset after recently receiving this letter.

It reads in part:

"We are writing to inform you that we will be unable to renew the Allstate policy identified above."

"This homeowners policy is ineligible primarily due to the lack of supporting Allstate automobile policy."

The Arkansas Insurance Department has heard from a number of Arkansas Allstate customers and it has started an investigation into their complaints.

Earlier this year Allstate announced that about 46,000 property policies in North Carolina were being non-renewed for the same reason.

1. I have never heard of this before
and for the life of me I can't figure out why they would bother to do it?

It's Allstate though and my experience with them in the past has been somewhat less than fulfilling, this could be the poke people need to find a decent company to deal with.

2. they're taking advantage of the laws
to keep auto and home insurance. Bundling seemed like it could save some money, but cancelling your existing ins. because you don't insure your boat through them is just wrong. nt

4. I'm having a tough time getting excited about this.
800-24-AMICA

http://www.amica.com/

AMICA is a mutual insurance company so it's
owned by its policyholders. Yes, they'll
give you a discount if you're "all in", but
they'll happily sell you policies piecemeal.

And instead of AMICA earning any profits, every
year, you get a rebate check that represents that
year's unspent premiums.
