Missile launcher found discarded in dumpster
Escondido, CA (CNN) - Authorities in California are trying to figure out how a missile launcher winded up in a dumpster.

The device, which was found in an Escondido dumpster Friday afternoon, was wrapped in plastic and surrounded by debris.

As it turned out, only the launch tube was discarded.

"There was no ordinance in it, nothing … no danger whatsoever," said Officer Scott Walters of SDPD. "But obviously, better to play it on the safe side until we knew for sure what it was."

Authorities said they think the missile launcher is an AT-4 anti-tank weapon, which is used by both the Army and Marine Corps

1. It's not considered a weapon.
If it's a used tube , it's legal to own.

15. OED says it's proper, just not as common as "wound up".
It does hurt my eyes though.

6. Someone probably bought it at a gun show. My own collection includes a spent LAW rocket tube.

It's perfectly legal to own a fired one, even in California. They're not re-usable.

I like this photo because of all the flying brass.
