Paul Ryan Tapped To Deliver GOP State Of The Union Response

WASHINGTON — Republicans have selected House Budget Committee chairman Paul Ryan to deliver the party's speech after President Barack Obama's State of the Union address Tuesday night.

A Wisconsin Republican, Ryan will play a key role in the GOP drive to cut federal spending this year. Party leaders say his selection was intended to emphasize that objective.

11. I've been thinking that he'd be an up-and-comer in the GOP ever since

the working session President Obama held with Republicans when he went and listened to their "ideas" for reform. He was very articulate and looks the part of a Manchurian-style GOP type.

12. Bachmann To Give Her Own State Of The Union Rebuttal

But for those conservatives who want more of a tea-flavored rebuttal, fret not: Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) will be giving her two cents as well.

The Minnesota Republican's office confirmed to The Huffington Post that she will be broadcasting a prerecorded message through the Tea Party Express website once Obama is done speaking.

"She will be doing it," a Bachmann spokesman said. "We don't know all the details. But it is something that the Tea Party Express will record."
