If you don't like my politics, blame my dad. |

Although when he was alive he was a very successful businessman in the plumbing & electrical wholesale business, he was above all things, a Roosevelt Democrat with human compassion. He thought the better the conditions of the working man, the better the conditions for us all. He believed everyone should have a living wage and a roof over their head. Blame him because that is where I got it.

1. Hmm...my politics differ sharply from those of my father. |
|
I love the man like life itself, but we do not agree on political issues. I developed my own political beliefs based on education, observation, and thinking. I'd be ashamed to say that I had not developed my own beliefs and simply follow those of my father. I am an independent individual, influenced by, but not dominated by the beliefs of my parents. I can, and do, think.

The smartest businesspeople do. They understand the success of their business depends on two things: an educated workforce, and a customer base with disposable income. Republicans don't understand this, and they oppose efforts to improve either of those factors.

6. My dad was a small business man |
|
never had more than 2 employees (not counting my mother who took care of the money) at any one time. He always said that a happy employee was a productive employee. He also thought that paying a living wage meant that employees would be less likely to steal from the cash register.

3. Blame mine too - he was also an FDR Dem |
|
And I learned some of my most valuable lessons from him. He was one of the most open-minded, compassionate people I've ever met. He was a Depression kid, and had a serious progressive streak, as do I. He taught me well, and I miss him dearly. :)

4. Don't blame my dad for mine |
|
He bought the whole right wing lie of having his pockets picked to feed welfare queens (black, of course) hook, line and stinker.
It was really hard to forgive him all those years for voting for people who were out to destroy any chance I might have had in life. I managed, barely.
I have no idea why I turned out left-o. It certainly wasn't environmental.
It has to have been all the reading I did when I was a kid.
