NYC Votes to Change Taxi Driver Dress Code
NEW YORK (AP) — New York City officials have changed a rule governing what taxi drivers can wear — and it’s not too shabby.

The city’s Taxi and Limousine Commission voted unanimously to amend existing regulations to require that drivers maintain “a professional appearance.”

The previous rule had prohibited specific clothing from being worn as outerwear, such as underwear, tank tops, and swimwear.

The new rule emphasizes broad parameters, that a driver’s overall appearance has to be neat, clean and professional. TLC Commissioner David Yassky says ethnic and religious garb are welcome.

1. So now they can wear underwear
as long as it's "neat, clean and professional."

Thank you.

3. How about cracking down on cab drivers who
yell at you when you try to pay with a credit card, or try to claim the machine is "broken" when you go to pay and they realize you're using a card?

9. Or the processing fees. Either way, that's not our fault.
I don't like some things I have to do at work but I don't harass customers over it.

6. There are people why try to pay a taxi with a credit card?
Never heard of that, some things are just meant for cash. Almost as bad as handing a stripper a CC.

8. All the time.
It's a law in NY State (and a lot of others) that cabbies have to take cc. When one is traveling on an expense acc't, it really helps.

Or one could pay cash and stuff the receipts into the stripper's T-Back.

10. Sure. For longer trips and for people who get reimbursed by their company.
And I don't think a stripper would mind if you handed over your credit card! :P

7. That always pisses me off.
It's pretty much that way, everywhere. I have gotten into some pretty serious situations on that point.
