I'm guessing the electoral map will look something like this:

6. Carter's approval ratings were low for quite some time before the 1980 election.
Ted Kennedy's primary challenge to Carter showed how many Democrats did not want to re-elect Carter. Things could change, but right now it doesn't look like Obama will face any threatening primary challenge in 2012.

Reagan also didn't have as many embarrassing statements in his past, and as an actor, he was good at playing to the camera.

I think it's far more likely that Obama does as well as Reagan in 1980 before Bachmann will.

13. Don't underestimate the "Dumbing Down of America".
Bachmann would win Ga,Ms,Al,La,Tx,Ar,Ok,Wy,Ut, and Id. I am going out on a limb predicting South Carolina, Alaska, and Nebraska for Obama.

15. Don't forget the SC ruling: She could take AZ, TX, AR, OK, KS, MO, LA, TN, MS, AL, GA, KY, SC, AK,
ND,UT,ID,WY. That's 18 states and the core of the republican base. The President would get 32.

16. Has anyone from the House ever gone directly to the Presidency?
I don't recall any House members ever getting any real traction in a run for the White House. Gephardt was the last one I personally can recall even trying it, although I'm sure there have been other semi-serious candidates (and, of course, Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich).

I wouldn't worry too much about her getting too far. But, this is Crazyland anymore, so who knows. Probably more likely to get a Mooselini-Bachmann dual run. Birds of a feather flock together, especially delusional fascist ones.

23. And as Dennis Kucinich likes to point out
Garfield did it from the same district he now represents.

Still, it's a tough climb to make, you pretty much have to be a Governor, Senator, or win a major war.

17. All of them...
I believe a lot of the traditional Republican states may go to Obama by default due to a third party candidate that would split the Republican votes.

You know the best way to ensure that Bachmann never becomes president? Make sure she never runs.

THIS COUNTRY JUST PUT BUSH IN OFFICE FOR 2 TERMS. Be careful what you wish for.

22. It's fun to speculate
but Bachmann has zero chance of getting the Puke nomination for the top spot on the ticket. I don't rule out the VP nod, as there are apparently no qualifications for that job.
