One of the more interesting points from Olbermann's statement
Edited on Fri Jan-21-11 11:20 PM by ProSense
In his statement, Olbermann thanked his "greatest protector and most indefatigable cheerleader, the late Tim Russert."

2. That IS very interesting
especially since I viewed Ole Punkin Head, may G-d rest his soul, as the ultimate slightly left of center TV mouthpiece for the corporatocracy.

I lost all respect for Russert after one of his interviews with Cheney, in which he lobbed butt-kissing softballs instead of BEING A JOURNALIST.

Perhaps Tim was one of those guys who knew on which side the bread was buttered and wanted to keep his status quo, but still showed his conscience in other ways.

to get information out of them. Tim was very very good. He would also know a lot in order to ask good questions.

10. TR cowtowed to RWers too much, but compared to Gregory....
Russert, would pose pointed questions and was surely as good as we're likely to see in that spot.

6. Thought just occured to me that maybe KO thought that he might have a heart attack if he stayed. He
would get so worked up that I think perhaps with his family history with the heart that he saw the writing on the wall and hopefully is looking to land where he can be healthiest.

16. What family history?
You must know something I don't know. His mother died of breast cancer and his father's death was related to kidney failure. Nothing heart-related that I know of.

13. I heard that as well--I got the impression that the deaths of his parents had hit him very hard, and
only the insistence of his audience kept him on, and going.

12. Keith was visibly shaken the day Russert passed.
There was never any question in my mind that they had a close personal friendship. I always liked Russert and never understood why so many at DU despised him.
