Keith for HBO!

I won't be watching MSNBC anymore but I would really love to see Keith free of the pressures of the corporate media.

HBO would be a great place for him.

Bill Maher has done much better since he got his own show on HBO after being silenced by the Corporate Media also.

George Carlin found a home on HBO also.

Rachel should think about moving before they start restricting what she can say also.

She should remember what they did to their rising star journalist, Ashley Banfield.

The Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann Show!

I think that would be a hit that would attract millions of viewers.

Keith helped build MSNBC.

I think he would do even better on HBO.

It is owned by Time Warner, they are not independent, nobody is.

4. They have a different audience than the 24 hour news cable

audience.

And they have given a platform to many people who were fired or created controversy on other networks, like George Carlin and Maher who is far better now than he ever was on his original show.

But yes, all the networks are run by corporations, but HBO seems to be the last refuge for smart people to speak freely other than indie tv which has not gained a big enough audience yet.

I wish there was one or two Democrat stations.

Can you imagine this country = seven network and cable stations and all of the corporately owned and pushing the Reoublican propaganda and vitriol all day, all week, all years - except for a token 15 or 20 hours a week for some Democratic coverage.

6. Someone above just said that Time Warner owns HBO.

We will never get anywhere so long as we do not have a free press. And every time we get a progressive who is successful, they get rid of him/her.

HBO does seem to pick up a lot of the people who have run-ins with the MSM, like George Carlin and Maher eg. And they seem to be much freer to express themselves there.

If the current trend towards the right in the media were reversed, this would be an entirely different country.

10. HBO is owned by AOL/Time Warner

Basically the same company that bought out Turner Broadcasting. They own all the Turner networks, TBS, TNT, CNN, TRUtv, TCM, and Cartoon Network. It's basically a mixed bag, politically. I have been told by many people that Time Warner is more hands off in how their networks run.

11. I don't think they'll do a rebrand. the liberal version of FOX

has & is working very well for them and their ratings have soared sinbce Keith Rachel Ed & Lawrence. Remember, they are really only i it for the money, and ratings do that. my guess is that they're execs are no fans of Rupert's either. I read & heard comments that Keith has been indicating signs of looking for his next job for some time and may well have several irons in the fire. Keith is NOT gone from the airwaves and I happen to like MSNBC's new lineup. Let's wait and see what happens. Just maybe we liberals will get more exposure with this change.

12. They did it before and it didn't work out too well for them.

After they fired Donohue and hired Scarborough to cheer for the war airc, their ratings were terrible.

So far it looks like they're trying to keep the liberal audience.

But the lost one viewer, not that that will affect anything.

But I am now going to be wondering how much the others are not saying for fear of meeting the same fate as Keith.

If they fired him for no good reason, then I think he could get out of such a clause, eg.

If he quit for some very good reason, he also might be able to get out of it.

19. Just read that he signed an agreement that ended his contract

and the agreement included not doing any major TV shows for a certain amount of time. So, I guess that rules out HBO, unless they don't view HBO as 'competitors'.
