Look. Control of the political agenda is worth trillions to the owners of this country. Media control is key to their goal. (And the ability to tweak election results with unaudited electronic voting machines doesn't hurt.)

Turn off the crap. Support alternatives. (I support DemocracyNow and TheRealNews.) It’s not a complete answer since the vast majority will always turn to the slick, big dollar corporate propaganda outlets, but at least you can keep informed and retain your own sanity.

And when when someone tries to dismiss you as a conspiracy theorist, know this: Monopoly is conspiracy.

2. I was in Pittsburgh for Netroots in August of 2009
The cable in the hotel didn't air MSNBC or Comedy Central. Lots of pissed off progressives.

4. I agree with the notion of tuning out from the corporate media
Do we *really* need our news pre-digested and fed back to us by overpaid talking heads pushing the agenda of their corporate masters? Is there some (or any) intrinsic value to hearing these pabulum-pushers engaging in jaunty banter with repukes? You know fucking well that these repukes are overrepresented at least 7-1 over any liberal voice. Oh, yeah...don't forget the incessant parade of commercials that reinforce the notion that you consume, so you have value as a person.

Ain't it great to get your news & views straight from the corporate boardroom? :eyes:
