Ed says:

I want all the listeners of the Ed Schultz radio show to know that nothing will change. The stations that carry the Ed Schultz radio show have been great to "Team Fargo" and I have no intention or plan to change anything.

The move of the "Ed Show" on MSNBC to 10pm eastern puts our show in prime time all across the country. We will be on at 9pm in Chicago, 8pm in Denver and 7pm in Seattle and Portland, Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego.

My personal mission to advocate for the American worker and the middle class along with the fight for social justice will never change. I will have a lot more to say Monday night.

Keep the faith, your friend, Ed

‘THE ED SHOW’ MOVES TO 10 PM ET

NEW YORK – January 21, 2011 – Starting Monday, January 24, “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell” will move to 8 p.m. ET/PT and “The Ed Show,” hosted by Ed Schultz, will move to 10 p.m. ET/PT on MSNBC. The announcement was made today by Phil Griffin, President of MSNBC. “The Rachel Maddow Show” will continue to air live at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

.......

I know a lot of people will say they won't watch MSNBC now but I have to support Ed and Rachel! Keith's departure was heartbreaking but I hope Ed and Rachel can continue their excellent reporting! It is all we have right now. Please don't shoot the messenger. I don't plan on catching "The Last Word" though because I think Lawrence O'Donnell doesn't fight for the little guy.

2. no can do
they have us in a bind. If we punish MSNBC for letting Keith go, the network will go down or go right. It's win-win for Murdoch. The right wins no matter what we do now.

4. Ed's Show Is Doomed At The New Time Slot.......
In the CST he now comes on at 5pm. People are just getting home from work and turn on the TV and Ed - being he is the big advocate for the working class - refreshing to watch after putting in a hard day at work kissing corporate ass. They identify with his rants and it certainly goes well with a cocktail or beer.

By moving Ed to the later time slot - he will be up against more prime time programming and by that time the corporate ass kickers are settled in and watching CSI, Law & Order, The Good Wife, etc and just want to veg out.

I think MSNBC/Comcast is putting Ed in this time slot to facilitate his demise. His ratings will go down at this new time and they'll have a good excuse to deep six his program.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Rachel. How will they try and control her program?

5. And let's not forget Cenk at 6:00
The wingnuts who are gloating about Keith leaving are going to miss him after they listen to Big Ed. Then when Keith shows up somewhere else (Blog Keith Blog, or perhaps a newspaper column at the Huffington post, or a CNN contributor)(I wonder if he will be allowed as guest on Rachel's show) perhaps their heads will explode.

8. Cenk is only a temporary replacement...
If you think he's going to be given a regular spot permanently, I've got a bridge you might be interested in.

9. True this.
Cenk goes after the right no-holds barred.

This is about breaking up the liberal foothold KO created on MSNBC. You go after the leader, first.

Pure and Simple.

15. Cenk cleans up nice for TV
but he doesn't make nice.

That's the thing that makes no sense. They got rid of their golden goose but kept the left leaning format. 2+2 is not equaling 4 here.

7. Ed's going to have some very long days...
Edited on Sat Jan-22-11 01:33 PM by hlthe2b
His radio show comes on around 10 AM in Denver, I think (don't hear it that often) so if that is 12-3pm EST and his tv show is 10PM EST, ole Eddie is going to have to develop some Thom Hartmann-like stamina (and NO ONE has stamina, like TH-- he is friggin amazing).

I've had moments of loving and loathing ED over the many years, but I wish him well. He started as a North Dakota staunch conservative-libertarian type, but after marrying a "socialist" Democrat (LOL) he came around. Some question that, but I do believe his conversion to be a true one, even if he sometimes had some lingering remnants of conservative thinking bubbling up from time to time.

10. Wait a sec. I thought that was an encore airing at 10.
This kinda sux.
10 o'clock is a sucky time slot but IMO, it's where the opinion shows belong. Too bad I will probably be busy falling asleep through it now.

11. I don't like the spot they're moving Ed into at all
by the time he comes on I'll be full up on politics and ready to relax with some mindless TV viewing. This blows my schedule because I don't like O'Donnell (at all) and they stuck him right in the middle of Cenk (who I love) and Rachel (I also love). I'll probably tune out of O'Donnell and get busy with something else and miss Rachel. I only see myself watching Cenk regular (till they dump him too). :grr:
