Longtime ACORN operative to be executive director of the DNC
http://dailycaller.com/2011/01/22/acorn%E2%80%99s-man-takes-over-the-democratic-party%E2%80%99s-war-machine
A longtime ACORN operative is about to take over the reins of the Democratic National Committee as its executive director – just in time to begin initial preparations for President Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign.

The activist in question is Patrick Gaspard. He currently holds the title of White House political affairs director, the same title Karl Rove held in President Bush’s administration.

Gaspard comes from the same world of radical left-wing community organizing that shaped Barack Obama.

2. The Daily Scrawler.
Interesting source. Anyone to the left of Pinochet is a "left-wing socialist."

4. That's where I found it.
It's still news.

It's not a site I hang out on. I happened to be on the site because someone linked to a video of Rachel Maddow that was on there and I saw the link about Gaspar.

10. Isn't the Daily Caller tucker carlson's newest enterprise?
Just LOVED :sarcasm: the snark with which this was written.

"Gaspard comes from the same world of radical left-wing community organizing that shaped Barack Obama."

"He’s the hatchet man Obama sent to New York over a year ago to strong-arm then-Gov. David Paterson into dropping his reelection campaign..."

"...Organizing for America, a project of the DNC supposedly modeled on Alinskyite organizing principles." (Doesn't the wrong-wing despise Saul Alinsky? Do I hear a dog whistle?)

"ACORN founder Wade Rathke, has since feigned senility and claimed he was mistaken..."

"...other evidence points to Gaspard’s involvement with the nation’s most notorious activist group."

"...very little is known about this Rasputin-like power behind the throne."

The article is full of little snide insinuations and deliberate negative-tinged word-painting techniques.

I swear - these guys NEVER stop. Which means WE CAN'T, EITHER.

5. The MSM is going to have a field day with this.
The Poutrage of the RW talking heads is going to be insane.

And how convenient that it's reported on a Saturday. Whatever agenda they had set for the Sunday shows has been completely derailed.

8. Yep. I guess everyone needs a job these days. Is Obama going to start courting the left
now that we've already been screwed over & over, and told to go take a hike? Why does this not smell right to me?

14. I've not found anything other than loony right-wing sources linking him to ACORN.
Edited on Sat Jan-22-11 02:26 PM by superduperfarleft
And the "links" appear to be nothing more than attending the same conference as ACORN employees.

Everything else is just places like Malkin or Fox News calling him "ACORN-linked" without any evidence whatsoever.

So basically, this article (and by extension, the thread) is just hysterical McCarthyesque right wing bullshit about Obama supposedly surrounding himself with "radical communists."

15. Maybe so.
Edited on Sat Jan-22-11 02:34 PM by drm604
Maybe I should have checked out the source and read more of the article before posting. But it's still interesting news, and being linked to ACORN isn't a bad thing even if the right tries to make it so.

20. So that's what he's actually been doing: working on healthcare for SEIU
I just usually kinda prefer real-life biographical details to wacko conspiratorial wingnut fantasies with not much connection to reality :)

21. Sorry, I took your comment the wrong way.
Yeah, it was pretty hilarious/sad to read about the "radical communists" at the SEIU, and the diabolical crowd that makes up the membership of the Democratic Socialists of America. :eyes:

16. Sorry for the source everyone, and the tone of the article.
I think it is news that Gaspard is becoming the executive director, but I should have read more of the article and checked the source better. Maybe he only has a tenuous connection to ACORN, if any, but ACORN isn't a bad thing after all.

The mention of Saul Alinsky should have clued me in. The only ones who bring up that name are right wingers.

I'll try to be a little more careful in the future.

Liberals are former "Operatives"

Just to clarify the newspeak terminology.
