2. Rebuilding a radical left is critical.
Not an adventurist left as in the 1960s, but a disciplined, militant left, as this country had in the 1930s.

6. the old left that did an about face every time Stalin told them to?
no thanks.

I agree we need to rebuild the left. I agree that we should learn from the mistakes of the 60's. I disagree that we should go back to the left of the 30s.

3. I'm the one barely out of view in the drawing, holding my sign that says
"legalize it" on one side and

"make solar panels, not war" on the other

4. I don't have a problem with the secessionists...
I'd like to secede from them, too. And no one gets hurt.

7. My problem with secession
is that I'd be stuck on the wrong side (living, as I do, in AZ). I'd become a refugee - which often is even worse than living in a red state.

11. I know, it sucks, because I'm in solid blue and the fuckwads...
...are making my life worse, not better.

I guess we're both motivated by self-interest

13. self-interest
only in the sense that if the people who live in the same state with me want to secede from the nation instead of (or to avoid) actually being fair and equitable and not letting corporations and the fascist types destroy both the environment and the people then their values are so diametrically opposed to mine that I would not feel as though it was my country and I would not want to live there. Lots of fair and equitable policies are not actually in my self interest (seeing as how I fall into an income bracket which describes only 15% of the US population, have quite good health insurance, and actually get a tax break because of the f**ked up capital gains tax system in this country) but that doesn't mean I don't support them 100%.

Looks like my old Santa Fe. Those folks on the left-who are the right- seem angry somehow...

10. The lack of diversity on one side is not an accident.
Why anybody other than aggrieved white folks would be on their side is a mystery to me. And this will be their undoing, in a decade or two. Things will continue to suck until that happens, though.
