It's no coicidence Obama had his people approve the Comcast merger just in time for his SOTU
In the days following Obama's State of the Union address this coming Tuesday, the most visible political commentator in America with enough credibility to legitimately criticize Obama from the left and make it stick with the public will not be seen on national television to call out Obama's bottomlessly cynical partnership with the GOP in cutting Social Security benefits and raising the Social Security age.

The billionaires who have Obama's ear are doing everything they can to ensure their decades'-long investment in killing Social Security is as unimpeded as possible.

only 2 people he appointed (a third is a carry over renominated by President Obama). Additionally by law only 3 can be of the same party as the president. Also they are appointed for 5 year terms to help insure their independence. Finally the FCC is an independent agency.

10. I agree...
They have much more effect on the mood of the country because they do not have an ideological axe to grind.

15. A commentator calling out political and media lies now equals "an ideological axe to grind"

18. What are you talking about...
Colbert and Stewart go after the ridiculous positions on both sides...

When was the last time anyone on the evening lineup, except for Matthews of course, on MSNBC took on a democrat who acted the fool?

When does Fox ever take on a foolish republican?

I enjoy using my own brain to determine if something doesn't fit with my perception of the world.

You might want to try it, it's called critical thinking...

16. A few snarky allusions to Obama's sell-out might be good for a chuckle before a studio audience
Edited on Sun Jan-23-11 08:44 AM by brentspeak
But they would be completely useless. The public needs Edward R. Murrow-types to hold politicians' feet to the fire. Otherwise, it's game over.

8. Obama is repositioning for re-election
Of course he had Keith whacked. Olbermann outlived his usefulness and we can't have "The One" being questioned. He should have just stuck with Palin bashing.

17. He wanted to renegotiate his contract....
he wasn't satisfied.

He's human, he wants what he hinks he deserves.

No shame in that.
