MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann banned on CNN’s Piers Morgan show
http://www.filmindustrynetwork.biz/msnbc%E2%80%99s-keith-olbermann-banned-on-cnn%E2%80%99s-piers-morgan-show/7735

Posted by Christopher H. Wright on January 23, 2011

Piers Morgan recently expanded his media blacklist to including Keith Olbermann amongst other figures not welcome on this show.

The successful yet controversial host who replaced Larry King this year has stepped up his beefs in recent weeks, unfraid of any backlash or criticism. Madonna is also part of this ban, and is the least likely person to ever feature on his show, unless CNN forces him to.

Keith Olberman left MSNBC abruptly this week with a short goodbye message, but where will he turn to next? Some agencies are suggesting that he should turn to CNN, but with Piers Morgan already not feeling his vibe, will he ever?

73. Like Peter Werbe tonight on Detroit radio!
Listen online 11 P.M. EST --> http://www.wrif.com/home.aspx

After the call-in time with listeners tonight he's going to interview Paul Clemens, author, Punching Out: One Year in a Closing Auto Plant in the last hour of the show. Clemens was on The Daily Show recently. What a sad but interesting topic.

2010 was a horrible year for Keith's show in ratings(both overall audience numbers and target demo dropped like a stone), fortunately Rachel is a different story.

Apparently you're looking at right-wing ratings because the ratings I look at from time to time show Keith's ratings are just fine.

And Rachel's will drop because no one will be watching Con-cast's network.

had a chance to finish what they're saying and he injects a lot of personal bs about himself into the interviews.

And it was a joke, basically (http://popwatch.ew.com/2011/01/17/piers-morgan-madonna-olbermann-cnn/):

• Keith Olbermann. “Just because it would really annoy him. I think he’s a great broadcaster, but I know he gets wound up very easily. It’s not a lifetime ban, it’s a temporary ban, designed to confuse and bemuse him, and hopefully engender a violent reaction.”

i.e prior to Obermann's departure. You may also find that the terms of his departure may have prohibited such an appearance anyway and as such publishing this now is sheer opportunism.

28. Okay fine then. Another CNN show on which I won't be wasting any of my time.
Y'know, there's a big fat hole at 5pm pacific/8pm eastern time, and this presents them a strategic opportunity they could really run with. An audience large enough to put a cable network without much decent penetration into a strong second-place finish - kicking CNN's butt. So why are they running the other way? Man, if I were a CNN programmer, I would be BUSY today...

Of Keith Olbermann, Morgan says he won't have him on air because it "would really annoy him. I think he's a great broadcaster, but I know he gets wound up very easily." He added that it's not a lifetime ban, just a temporary one that is "designed to confuse and bemuse him, and hopefully engender a violent reaction."

35. They don't call him "Piers Moron" for nothing
Seriously, that is his nickname in Britain; and I see no reason why the fraudulent weasel should escape it by moving the the US.

Remember, he was part of a share scam at the Mirror where he, as editor, would buy shares before they were recommended in the paper. He was incredibly lucky not to be prosecuted for it. F

Piers Morgan, editor of the Mirror, yesterday sold his shares in the hi-tech company Viglen Technology in the face of a growing storm over financial dealings among the newspaper's staff.

Trinity Mirror, which owns the paper, said it had hired the law firm Lovells to investigate the share dealings of its "City Slicker" columnists, Anil Bhoyrul, 33, and James Hip well, 34, after it emerged the tipsters were repeatedly recommending a company in which Bhoyrul owned 10,000 shares.

The press complaints commission has meanwhile broadened its inquiry into the Mirror to include Bhoyrul. Bhoyrul is understood to be consulting his lawyers.

A statement from the Mirror said an internal inquiry had cleared Mr Morgan of any wrongdoing in buying £20,000 of shares in Viglen on January 17, the day before the Slickers column wrote a highly positive story on the company. Mr Morgan paid around 180p a share and the stock was yesterday worth 294p, increasing the worth of his stake to almost £33,000. The statement said he would donate net profits from the sale to charity.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2000/feb/05/pressandpublishing.mondaymediasection

There was some interviewee who, whenever he didn't like the question Moron had asked, would just mutter 'Viglen' under his breath, and waited for Morgan to push it. He didn't.

83. Ah, thanks for the information.
When it comes to the junk the corporate media puts on the teevee, I'm about as far out of the loop as one can be. :-)

66. You know that old saying..be careful whose toes you step on today because they might be connected
to the foot that kicks your ass tomorrow. Advertising his banned list like this is pretty stupid.

Anyway, Piers Morgan's show is a trainwreck. He is a terrible interviewer and his guest list has been a snooze-fest (except for Howard Stern and Morgan managed to screw that up). To top it off the show is taped. When something big would happen during the day Larry King Live usually had a panel of guests live pertinent to the event but with Morgan's show taped that's not going to happen. It will be surprising if he lasts, imo.

71. and people should care what Piers Morgan (whoever the hell he is) thinks?
How odd.

Keith would not be interested in schlock shows anyway.. he would be more likely to want to visit Bill Maher or Jon Stewart and his buddy Dave Letterman.. not some wannabee named Piers:)

77. Heh... got a link to that?
I didn't have to look up Jeremy Clarkson before commenting on your post like I had to do before commenting on this Piers fellow.

:hi:

78. I think Olbermann's agreement specifically forbade him from such appearances, anyway.
Didn't I just read that in Olbermann news flash #43, about six hours ago?

84. He's only been on the air for about a week
I don't call that a "success"

As for "banning" Keith from his show, well, that's his loss.

87. I am officially banning Piers Morgan from my bi-monthly cat newsletter.
Now Piers Morgan's only fan can retailiate by banning me from his email list, and someone else can ban the Piers fan from their facebook page.

89. And I was just beginning to like the guy.
Banning no-talent Madonna was a big plus in my book. He played softball with Condoleeza. No KO but he has Howard Stern? I wasn't watching that slot anyway with LK, no big whoop to keep no watching it.

91. Did he really?
Of course that makes me miss him all the more.

I have my complaints about ol' Lare, but I always loved how he laughed when he had comics on. Really genuine, and sounding way younger than his what? ninety years? :-)
