I hit the (DU) "perfecta" today!
Went to a funeral and met and heard Former Senator Specter, Senator Casey, Former Governor Rendell, and Philadelphia Mayor Nutter.

Not much to report except that they all spoke well and spoke very well of the deceased except Senator Specter who is clearly depressed.

To answer the obvious: I am the family dentist for this group and am always invited to their functions both as a friend, as a professional, and as a political and personal confidante. Although I am not one to drop names, or be impressed by social and political station, it really ha been a terrific experience knowing and working with these people. Philadelphia is actually a very small town and of the 500 or so mourners at the synagogue, I knew about 300 of them by face, personal knowledge, or reputation. One thing about this town: you really better be careful whom you piss off. It will come back to haunt you forever. Sometimes folks move here and think that they're anonymous...but you're NFL (not for long).

It was fascinating to hear each of these politicos get up and talk about how the deceased had been instrumental in each of their careers and how profoundly he affected Democratic Party and Elected Officials' achievements over the years.

1. You were our ears and eyes today, and obviously many other times as well.
I think it is always fascinating to be on the inside and get to see that we are all just people.
