Gay man's bedroom set on fire after rock thrown through window
Source: WSB-TV

CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. -- A Carroll County man told Channel 2 Action News that he believes he was the target of a hate crime.

Chris Staples said someone threw a rock through his window with a piece of paper attached that was covered in anti-gay slurs. Then hours later, he woke up to flames filling his bedroom. Officials said officers are investigating the incident as an arson.

... His mother said at 5:30 a.m. Sunday she heard a commotion and saw fire coming from her son’s house next door. She said she ran out to find Staples lying in the yard. She said she thought he was dead.

... “There was a note attached to the rock with some of the meanest, hateful words that could come out of a person’s mouth,” she said.

5. From the text posted above, it would seem to be
However, the pictures of the property would seem to indicate that the fire started from the inside of the dwelling. I also find it curious that someone would go to bed after having a rock thrown through their window with hate speech attached, when they had another place to stay next door. I would be scared s**tless and call the cops with just the rock/note incident.

More info needed on this one, IMO.

3. :(
What is wrong with people anymore? Little wonder gay kids are killing themselves. I'm glad Mr. Staples survived.

6. Allegations aside, people who commit hate crimes like this need to be destroyed.
Not physically hurt, of course. Just...ruined.

And we shouldn't leave it to our GLBT community alone to do the work.

7. “There was a note attached..."
“There was a note attached to the rock with some of the meanest, hateful words that could come out of a person’s mouth,”

The note read, "You're a republican and a Palin fan."

Jokes aside, I hope the arsonist/attempted murderer/dumb ass is caught soon. Staples may be "OK" right now, but he may still be in danger.
