He didn't go there... did he?
Obama hails Reagan For Inspiring US.

http://www.upi.com/Top_News/US/2011/01/24/Obama-hails-Reagan-for-inspiring-US/UPI-70081295899127/

"In an oped piece published in USA Today, Obama said the 40th president, who was born 100 years ago Feb. 6, "understood that while we may see the world differently and hold different opinions about what's best for our country, the fact remains that we are all patriots who put the welfare of our fellow citizens above all else."

-snip-

"He understood that it is always 'Morning in America.' That was his gift, and we remain forever grateful."

Yeah if there is one thing I am grateful for it's Ronald Fucking Reagan.

1. Grateful for Reagan? Pardon me as I vomit.
This is a load of revisionist tripe. Unless he really believes it. Which, you know, who knows?

5. Oh yeah, I'm real grateful for the Hollywood Snitch
Tell me again how Reagan, one of the original Blacklist Snitches, thought that we are all patriots who love our country even though we might see the world differently or hold different opinions. None of Ronnie's pals faced prison or the loss of their livelihood for ratting out their compatriots to HUAC or the Senate Select Committee. No, the only ones at risk were those who weren't sufficiently American as defined by assholes like Martin Dies, Richard Nixon and Joe McCarthy.

I say we coop reagan and turn him into a HUGH LIBERAL!

Who else will they be able to turn to for their fantasies then.

I am beyond sick of the constant re-imagining of this senile old bastard from weepy-eyed morons on the right, but I feel almost physically ill when one of the sycophantic revisionsts is supposedly one of us..

I am grateful that his gibbering idiocy was term-limited to only eight years... And Obama should know better..

16. I quote Reagan and GHWBush all the time...
They have both said a lot of things the current GOTP would be outraged at. GHWB called Reagan's "trickle-down economics" voodoo economics. That's my fav... so I'm fond of saying that I would like to see Reagan's immigration policies and GHWB's anti-Reagan economic policies revisited.

There is a sliver of good in all, regardless of political orientation. I know GWB did a few good things. I think they were accidental, but that's my opinion. The fact remains he did a little good.

27. "...we are all patriots

Bullshit on all counts.

Despite what our founding documents say, we are not all created equal. The corporations are worth more than flesh and blood citizens. And rich people are worth more than regular working folks. Seems that some are far more equal than others. And leaders of both political parties have made these distinctions for quite a long while.

tree. How many more do you need to look at?"

"You've seen one redwood, you've seen them all."

Such inspiring quotes from Ronald Reagan. :sarcasm: I wonder what Teddy Roosevelt would have thought?

Reagan totally demolished the environmental reputation of the Republican party.

31. As I read his op-ed, I kept hearing, "I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him."
ANTONY

Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears;
I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.
The evil that men do lives after them;
The good is oft interred with their bones;
So let it be with Caesar. The noble Brutus
Hath told you Caesar was ambitious:
If it were so, it was a grievous fault,
And grievously hath Caesar answer'd it.
Here, under leave of Brutus and the rest--
For Brutus is an honourable man;
So are they all, all honourable men--
Come I to speak in Caesar's funeral.
He was my friend, faithful and just to me:
But Brutus says he was ambitious;
And Brutus is an honourable man.
He hath brought many captives home to Rome
Whose ransoms did the general coffers fill:
Did this in Caesar seem ambitious?
When that the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept:
Ambition should be made of sterner stuff:
Yet Brutus says he was ambitious;
And Brutus is an honourable man.
You all did see that on the Lupercal
I thrice presented him a kingly crown,
Which he did thrice refuse: was this ambition?
Yet Brutus says he was ambitious;
And, sure, he is an honourable man.
I speak not to disprove what Brutus spoke,
But here I am to speak what I do know.
You all did love him once, not without cause:
What cause withholds you then, to mourn for him?
O judgment! thou art fled to brutish beasts,
And men have lost their reason. Bear with me;
My heart is in the coffin there with Caesar,
And I must pause till it come back to me.
