Ed Schultz: ''.... we're going to do the best we can, for the 'product', for the network'' - UPDATED
Edited on Mon Jan-24-11 06:25 PM by Tx4obama
Ed just said that on Cenk's show.
That's a 'truthful' comment, though quite disgusting!
The folks at MSNBC are going to do what they can for the 'product' and to hell with being a 'voice' of the left leaning American public!

Corporate media SUCKS!

Edited to add full quote:

Ed Schultz: " We'll I think Cenk first of all great to have you on at 6 o'clock and I am looking forward to moving to 10 no question about it - we're all going to miss Keith but uh life goes on and we're going to continue to do the best we can, for the 'product', for the network''

1. All TV is programming is a product
MSNBC fills a niche just like Fox and very profitable one at that. Chill out

2. The bottom line is profit and money, the product gets them there. Yep, I
caught that too, it ruffled me a bit, but then again these shows owe their existence to making money, the US way, and much of the world.

6. it`s all about the ad rates....
why would they "fire" Keith when he was bringing in more money than any of their programming? they may not like what they say but money talks in that business.

i think both Keith and msnbc decided to part ways

As well as anyone else who'd like you to be concerned about something other than "product."

15. You are correct.
It should be obvious, but thank you for explaining it to those who didn't understand.

12. If he'd said "continue to do the best we can for our viewers" it would have been 100% better.

13. that wording would have been better, I agree, but
it's not exactly news that news shows are a product. I'd hope he'd want to put out a good one.

14. The shows are products, that is not arch that is just fact
Edited on Mon Jan-24-11 09:15 PM by Bluenorthwest
Countdown was a product. Ed is on a network that just lost their cornerstone product, star draw, their tent pole. If he was not concerned with serving the network at a moment like that he'd be an idiot and a jerk A show like his is his product, and what the fuck else should he call it? Does his product have some magical status lacking in the products of bakers or auto factory workers? Should he use ritual language around it and pretend he's not at work?
I just don't get it. Do you contend that such programs are not products? It is a tad on the aw shucks side, but that's Ed. Just making the best product we can, same as any other worker, pulling together for the company and giving courage to the new guy, who just joined a ship suddenly not as sprightly as it was last week.
I just don't get the way you look at what he said at all. Should he have said Cenk, we need to make shitty shows and try to sink our boat?

16. Yeah,
that comment left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I hope they don't consider what they're doing just "product". I don't want to be coddled, I just want the truth.
