War of The Worlds
Edited on Mon Jan-24-11 09:09 PM by NeeDeep
We all have heard how the 1938 radio broadcast of H. G. Wells "War of the Worlds" turned out — people sitting in shock at an alien invasion — people running thru the streets. This was spurred on by:

"The first two thirds of the 60-minute broadcast were presented as a series of simulated "news bulletins", which suggested to many listeners that an actual alien invasion by Martians was currently in progress."

Imagine if some version of "War of The Worlds" were being broadcast every day, by all the radio stations across the country and by cable TV like FOX News. If they're all saying it, 'it must be true'. The point being — how easy it is to separate some people from the general population using modern communications. How some of these people will remain separated no matter what truth is later told them, like... 'there is no invasion'. They don't care what the truth is, they know the invasion is coming, and soon!

The process of linking a primitive emotion such as 'fear' and 'an event', allows the oldest parts of the brain (limbic system) to dominate. This type of 'thinking' precludes the more recently evolved areas of our brain from control (pre-frontal cortex), which holds the more complex emotions (guilt, shame, remorse), that modify our behavior. Unfortunately this type of linkage it is the tool of choice for conservative talk radio and Fox News! This same process is used for linking 'hatred' and 'the person', or hatred of an organization, big guvment, unions, socialist, pensions and teachers, let's slip this one in... 'liberals'. These of course need to be dealt with, fixed, according to the modern conservative mind-set.

Dwelling on something negative — what not to like — who not to care for — all the reasons why — this type of communication is both a distraction and a mode of control and the line of thinking for the modern conservative. Constantly telling people something is wrong infers that the 'teller' knows something of what they speak, and that you should listen. But when your brain did not develop properly and the ability to 'care' for people is missing, twisting reality and teaching people to 'not care' becomes the modus-operandi of gaining resources, Beckkk Limbaugh and Palin just wont tell you this!

Caring is a recent evolutionary and very human trait. It lives along side empathy, devotion, loyalty and love. Externalization of these feelings ultimately results in, and is expressed as, 'care'. When they are absent from the human psyche, retro, anti-care thoughts and feelings occur. Care happens to be one of the more important of the highly developed and complex thought processes. If you look closely, conservatives can't do it... they can't handle it... refuse to acknowledge it... They won't admit it though, they may not even realize it, but 'not caring' and the politics of not caring become their primary motivation, all they need is the reasoning and reward. Once this logic is developed, it's very hard to undo.

The process of subverting society's ability to care for one another and allowing the primitive regions of the brain to dominate is dependent on being able to separate people in the general population. Herding and corralling people by use of manipulation based on 'conclusions' or lies or half-truths is expedient, and of course they need to think this is 'voluntary' and for their own good. This self-induced separation says to the 'herder' that these people are easily controlled and vulnerable to anything the perpetrators may say. It also tells the 'herder' that these people will not care about consequences, or the effect on others, and in fact they will 'chant' the same talking points to prove they are right. All the herder needs is a platform from which to speak, to manipulate from... and for everyone else to remain silent. For Rush Limbaugh, his wannabes, Fox and the Republican party, this process gives them power, wealth, electoral votes, and ratings, why would they ever quit! Exposing their lack of conscience has no downside, manipulating for personal gain at the expense of a democracy is 'just good business sense', to do otherwise is 'un-American'. The rest of the country (liberals) can 'eat shit and die'.

Eating shit, and dying, may not be the worst thing here, plenty worst can happen. Dividing Americans and taking away their ability to care for one another thru goverment can lead to all kinds of things — like the collapse of the middle class, slowly and horrendously. The sudden dissolution of the federal goverment, which is given over to corporations in some kind of compromise. Imagine that, no elections, only the appointment of a board of directors every now and then to run our goverment (politicians being too expensive - haha). Do you think a corporation will give a shit about our constitution, civil rights, or liberties, or the ability to peaceably assemble, tax rates or the minimum wage? How about corporations importing highly skilled foreign workers, or just exporting the job and factory completely and paying no taxes here. All we have to do is allow people who don't care, never had the ability to care, to keep manipulating us, to gain more power and resources, and to disassemble our democracy.... Actually fuck us all runnin, looks like we're almost there.
