Speaking of boomers, I wonder if some people have been influenced in their opinions about boomers |
|
from the movie THE BIG CHILL.
I mean, look at the way many people view the 1950's because of the way certain TV shows portrayed it. And, if you don't think very hard, it's easy to do.
Anyway, I just want to say that this boomer, and many, many others were never as affluent as the characters in THE BIG CHILL.

most of us had to live through an up and down economy...I know in my life, I've had to start over many times...every time the Dems were in control things would start to improve. Than a repub would get in there and low and behold everything would go to hell again...my husband was laid off of work most of the early 70's with Nixon than got back to work under Carter, than laid off again in the 80's after Reagan - didn't start doing better until Clinton. So saving was just what we did to sustain us when ever a repub got back in, because it was inevitable he would have gotten laid off again or prices would have soared etc.

THE BIG CHILL has had that much of an influence. Of course, I'm a Boomer myself, and so while I certainly enjoyed the movie, I could clearly see the fantasy aspect of it.
