Rep. Bachmann's response won't be aired by most television networks
<snip>

Only one television network — CNN — plans to air Bachmann's response to President Obama in its entirety, which she'll deliver separately from the official Republican response. She will make her remarks to the Tea Party Express, which will live-stream her speech on its website.

NBC, CBS, ABC and the Fox broadcast network won't air Bachmann's address, according to spokesmen.

On cable, Fox News won't carry Bachmann's speech, nor will MSNBC, which "will report on it, but plan to air it live," according to a spokesman.

CNN, by contrast, will air Bachmann's speech "live and in its entirety," according to a spokeswoman. C-SPAN will also carry a portion of her remarks before referring viewers to its special website to watch the rest of the speech. CBS will air the speech live online and cover it in its live, post-State of the Union webcast anchored by Katie Couric and other members of the network's political team. ABC will have a complete wrap of the State of the Union on its "Nightline" program, which will cover the Bachmann response, according to a spokesman. ABC will broadcast Bachmann's speech online, however.

1. Guess they've finally figured out...
...that the more the public hears of these wingnuts, the less they like them. They probably believe that protecting us from actual Tea Party members is the best way to keep support for the Tea Party alive. Those godless commie liberals at CNN are just engaging in gotcha journalism by letting people hear Bachmann's actual words.

2. Wonder if CNN's coverage will be FOXier than it usually is to try to snare
them some of that Teabagger love they'll get.

3. Why should they show two flavors of the GOP's response?
It's a fringe & astroturfed entity, & is aligned with the Republican party. If they show this, then any other party should get equal billing.

However, I think Bernie Sanders could & would give a most effective response.

4. CNN is up the Tea Party's ass lately. They did a bus tour recently with the "Teabagger Express", and

they have some other "debate" deal going on with them too.

I for one would love to see Bachmann crash and burn before a national audience. I wish every network would carry it.

8. K&R I gues there won't be a "liberal response" because most Americans think
Obama is a liberal...or a socialist/muslim/African commie.

10. I read in another thread that Bachmann was pre-recording her "response".
If so, it sounds more like a speech to me.

11. Confession: I would almost PAY to see her response if ...
Edited on Tue Jan-25-11 01:44 PM by demmiblue
she had to respond w/o a prerecorded piece and no prior access to President Obama's speech.

edit: added "President Obama's"

12. I know how she'll start...
She'll talk about how about how the opportunities in the great country make it possible for anyone, even a mulatto muslim socialist who wants to take away your guns and bibles, and send public students for abortion field trips at publicly funded sex clinics, to be elected president.

13. Doesn't truly matter what President Obama's SOTU speech entails
Bachmann's dog-whistled rebuttal will be chock-full of lies, regardless, her fondest whackjob desire is to see every "anti-American" politician (all Democrats) arrested, imprisoned as domestic terrorists w/o the right of Habeas Corpus, and quickly executed for treason.

In a more "perfect" Union under a President Bachmann/VP Palin, or Palin/Bachmann administration, the country would become a Dominist Christian US theocracy, by first declaring Martial Law, then creating-passing a Constitutional amendment.

Republicans would lawfully and solely be in control all executive, legislative and judicial branches of federal state, and city governments. Anyone residing in the US who has no proof of having actively practiced as a Judeo-Christian, and/or is found to be or claims to be an athiest/liberal/progressive/lefty, or is investigated and revealed to have a voting record that is not entirely comprised of Republican candidates, would be immediately stripped of their US citizenship, and then be offered a choice to either permanently leave the US without any saved and/or possession of liquid assets/cash oher than what is needed to pay for the cost of transport, or else be arrested, temporarily imprisoned in FEMA camps, then be summarily executed.

14. Why does the teaparty get time for a response?
Did candidates actually run designated as teapartiers? I only remember them running as republicans after beating a more traditional (?) republican in the primary.

15. Why these party responses are typically stupid.
They (including Dems) have their 10~15 minute speech already made. Like, *DID* they hear was the President has been talking about for the past hour or so? Did they understand the words, action or anything?

The President could say something like "I've lowered taxes for the middle class" (which he did) and then they come out and say "We will fight the President to bring out lower taxes".

Bachmann should be the spokeman for the GOP tonight, it would be more interesting. But then again, the TBT's seems to be convincing other Americans that their racist hate filled stories are "true" (not). Like when FOX was shocked to be called "Nazis" while they never EVER use such hateful words to anyone else... plenty of footage to show otherwise.

It would be great if the country and govt. would work as a team to get us on track instead of wasting our lives, time and money over greed and stupid stuff. :(
