Fox: 'Unusual' Bachmann Rebuttal Could Scramble GOP Message on Obama Address
It's bad enough that Rep. Paul Ryan has to follow President Obama. Now the brainy Wisconsin congressman tapped to give the official Republican response to the State of the Union address must also compete for attention with Tea Party star Michele Bachmann.

Bachmann, a third-term Minnesota congresswoman renowned for lobbing rhetorical bombs at her opponents, plans to rebut the president's address in an online broadcast at the Tea Party Express website Tuesday night.

While Ryan's remarks will be carried by all the networks and cable news outlets as they happen, television news outlets have agreed to share a camera to record Bachmann's comments -- and some could choose to air them live.

1. I think thats the plan, to blunt Ryan's message
His proposals would lose the GOP a lot of support among the older voters, so they scheduled the only person in Congress crazier than him to follow up in the hope that she will be the focus instead of Ryan.

13. Repukes are incapable of...
dealing with the Y axis, much less the Z. They are unidirectional, in reverse. :toast:

3. Should work, if she explains to us how to repeal the President

and the Senate.

Nobody will remember a thing Ryan said.

5. Oh, BULLSHIT. The repukes are getting TWO responses.
the tea baggers and the republicans are one in the same. they are NOT TWO DIFFERENT PARTIES.

the tea party isn't even a real party.

12. I did send a message to CNN
Asking that if they are going to treat the Teapublicans as their own separate party - they damn well better have Senator Sanders on as well . . .

The more I think about this the more po'd I get.

6. All this news contrivance is such a turn-off. Rebuttals already written & distributed
to the media. It really does take away from the virtues of spontaneity, passion, & sincerity. It's just a political game to them, yet we see the speech as a major announcement of how our LIVES will be affected.

8. I for one am delighted that Bachmann is becoming the face of the Republican Party.
I am sure Bonerman is thrilled also.

but it also makes sense. Since they are the network of the gop, they need to show them as being all in lockstep. And a brainy () bombthrower like her can mess up the cohesion.

15. Cohesion?
Edited on Tue Jan-25-11 04:51 PM by liam_laddie
More like lockstep a la goose-stepping. It mystifies me that twits like Bachmann, Palin and the tea-party reps are given any space in national media; oh...wait... national media=reich-wing propaganda. :puke:

11. I think the GOP is actually in support of this
Goal? Make Paul Ryan look 'moderate'.

Scramble? You bet! Scramble it so people don't realize how insane Paul Ryan's cat food for seniors budget is.
