Police fear, war on cops (UrbSurviv)
more: http://www.urbansurvival.com/blog/

The MSNBC story “Police fear ‘war on cops’” seems to have less to do with the emergent sense of ‘something’s out there and it’s bad’ – a feeling which is starting to really permeate everyday folks outlook on things – rather than a generalized sense of lawlessness which has crept in (from among other places) across our border.

As to what’s causing it, this violent strain of the GlobalRev meme, you can take your pick: Lack of economic development in Central American countries coupled with an exploitive class of super-rich there, the massive revenues from the drug trade, and perhaps we could even toss in the video game industry.

This may sound a little harsh, and no slight of gamers intended, except to say that one of the major selling points of games like GTA, CoD, and the rest going back to Castle Wolfenstein and the whole genre, is that there was a fundamental set of assumptions about violence made in the structure of the ‘game.’ Mario/Nintendo was one thing: rolling barrels, and so forth. The Microsoft Fright Simulator (sic) and so forth are similarly vanilla.

But lately, there are more body parts flying around video games I’ve seen than are left over in most hospitals. Stuff’s just all over the place.

1. Will this be yet another excuse to assume that they are in
a war against everyone, so police violence can get even worse? Oh yeah, that's just what we need. :eyes:

Geez, video games have been the boogie man forever. When are people going to grow up and figure out that games don't make people evil. Neither do books, or movies, or any other form of entertainment.

2. I like how the main focus is video games when it's been proven to be 100% pure bullshit.
